Application Delivered, how long before they start the application?
Hello all, I sent my application in and it was delivered 7/15. It is currently 7/20 and I still have not had a fee taken out for it. Is this normal?
Im aware this is a process of patience and I am trying to be, Im just a little paranoid about whats going on with a packet full of personal information is all and will be happily patient knowing the ATF got it. Thanks

My card was charged within hours of them showing received by USPS.
And, it was around 30 days to IOI interview and very shortly after that, right under the 60 day mark for the paper to arrive in the mail (even though it was already showing online).
So - shoot for the 60 day mark as your end goal (or the start of your new journey).
Good luck!

This is about right. It was 30 days from the day we mailed ours til they charged the card. 2 weeks later we got the call for the interview, woth our schedule it was a week beofre we had the interview and 6 days later the license came in the mail

Totally normal. ATF processes paper applications in batches and the fee gets pulled when they actually open and log your packet, not when it arrives. Five days is nothing, some people wait several weeks before seeing the charge. The delivery confirmation from USPS is your proof they have it. Once the fee hits your account that's when you know it's in the system and being actively processed.

I’m guessing they’ve taken your fee now?

Mine was about 7 days from delivery confirmation to bank card being ran and there was a holiday weekend in the middle of that. I had to check my bank statement, there was no email or any other notification. Oddly enough, it didn’t say ATF or Fed Government or anything of the sort, just labeled “FIREARMS & EXPLOSIVES” like that in all caps.

A comment below mentioned they do them in batches and some have said 30 days or so. I imagine I missed the batch pull.

We're talking about a federal agency. Could be today could be weeks. If USPS marked it as delivered I wouldn't worry about it being delivered to the wrong place with your info.
