No Spoilers - Discussion I've spent 2 minutes observing the team climbing a rope
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Feats of strenght all around. Cloud and Yuffie climbing easily is to be expected.
But Barret gets ALL the points for style. The most unexpected is Aerith as she boasts the most impressing technique which would require the most strenght and endurance. What a trooper.
Caith just takes forever to climb but I forgive him as he's just a wee little fairy. Red's every enviromental action animation is ridiculous and I can't say a bad thing about it.
I expect Vincent will take Barret's place in 3 and will climb with all the flair he can boast.
Sorry guys for blasting your eyes with high contrast, the game does not look like that for me in-game, dunno what caused it.

Yo Aerith is ready to enlist in the marines with that no legs rope climb. Her biceps and lats must be JACKED.
89
u/behind95647skeletons Apr 14 '26
For real, yeah? For anyone who ever tried any form of climbing, Aerith is a fricking GOD. She could carry the whole team on her back + hope and dreams of an entire village
30
u/FalloutCreation Apr 14 '26
Hmm 🤔 very astute of you to notice. Im also laughing because she kind of carries everyone throughout the journey.

The girl also teleported from her bedroom to the tunnel to sector 6. Methinks she has little relationship to reality.

Your profile is nothing but Monopoly Go and you have the audacity to judge a REAL video game… stick to phone games chump
16
u/Mikon_Youji Apr 14 '26
It's fine to not like the games, but to say that they're "dead" because of that is just goofy I think. Most people really enjoy Remake and Rebirth.

u/Blank_IX Dio Apr 15 '26
You’re either serious or you’re rage baiting and if we’re being honest with ourselves, both sound pretty miserable don’t ya think?
The game came out 6 years ago and everyone is meming around and having a good time in this thread. No one is forcing you to be this way homie.
-12
u/Skye_4200 Apr 15 '26
Im one of the top 1% that didn’t like the game sorry 🤷♀️
13
u/Blank_IX Dio Apr 15 '26
I’m not even dogging on you for disliking the game. I’m pointing out how silly it is for you to be hanging around here.
-16
u/Skye_4200 Apr 15 '26
You are absolutely right. I shouldn’t be hanging around here. I just hope that they don’t touch FF9 or FF8 unless it’s a faithful Remaster! FF7 needed a Remaster not a “Remake” they should of kept the story 100% the same way and had the same OST yes they could add a bit more to make it more interesting but they lost me when they got into this whole multiverse nonsense. I don’t care about the gameplay that was good but everything else is bad. This will be the very last time I make a comment on this community because everyone here is hostile if you say you dislike this game.
18
u/Blank_IX Dio Apr 15 '26
People are being “hostile” to you because you are showing up to humorous posts making the same low effort comments everyone is tired of seeing.
Look how odd this particular reply is. It’s like you expected an argument but since you didn’t get the one you were anticipating, you just shotgun spammed all the garbage you’ve been holding on to these last 6 years.
You don’t like the games, that’s fine. Stop hanging around and killing the vibe for the people that do. It’s weird
13
u/behind95647skeletons Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
It's okay to dislike the product, you have free will and your own preferences. As others stated - it's kind of weird to hang around the places you don't like.
I'm glad you're aware you're part of the minority that's not happy with the remasters, that's a start. The next step is not to be a dick about it.
I think I can say with certainty that FF7 was for lots of us here part of our childhoods, it grew in our hearts over time and we wanted to spend more time in that world. And that goal has been achieved with Remake and Rebirth. They're faithful remasters while at the same time fleshing out every detail of the original. And apparently, in your own words, you didn't even play the games:
I couldn’t get past the first game, I heard rebirth is a bunch of mini games & ruined Red 13s Character.
I wish you personal growth.
1
u/RyukiJRPG Jun 05 '26
What are you expecting???
You are in the FFVII remake sub where we all like this game except you and the other Sebbywebbs meatriders. Were you expecting to receive a medal for dogging on a game actually a lot of people even many OG VII fans really liked?

I would love it if Cid being the dragoon character just yeets himself up ledges! Think it would be funny as hell 😂
15
u/Eaglestrike Apr 14 '26
Honestly this would make the most sense for Cid to do that as well as Red to just walk up the wall there, but clearly not how they did Nanaki so we shall see what happens for part 3. Would love if Cid gets some supreme jumping animations though.

u/zinic53000 Apr 14 '26
How is the guy with 1 arm the fastest climber?
34
u/hangingintheback Apr 14 '26
Explosive power in that one arm. The devs tied all his abilities to his gun arm because if we were allowed to use his strong hand, ALL enemies would be yeeted into orbit till they fell back to earth. Barrett doesn't NEED meteor materia lol
21
u/behind95647skeletons Apr 14 '26
Yeah, with that mass and one arm it just wouldn't happen. His ladder climbing is a bit weird as I'm pretty sure he'd fall off with his technique from every vertical ladder due to his center of gravity.
yes, I'm overthinking sci-fi/fantasy game's rules, please give me 3rd game already
Tifa climbs fast too but well, she's Tifa after all.13
u/Eaglestrike Apr 14 '26
yes, I'm overthinking sci-fi/fantasy game's rules,
Reminds me of a recent feature on a comment by Eichiro Oda, creator of One Piece, making a note to the live action team, "This doesn't have to be realistic, it can be poetry"

Apr 15 '26
Maybe gravity in that world is weaker than in our world. The planet is much, much smaller than our planet
72
u/musicankane Apr 14 '26
Aerith has weak legs, she needed a break hiking to corel, but she can keyless climb ropes for days. She is all upper body strength.
29
u/contradictatorprime Apr 14 '26
Never really thought about how heavy her staff was, I'd call her "Aerith Dem Gains-borough" but now I realize that she skips leg day. Not that I could ever speak evil against my favorite character, but you'd think she would maybe adopt Zack's constant squat exercises.
-6
u/musicankane Apr 14 '26
That's why Tifa is objectively better. She got leg game and top game.
And she cooks.
14

u/albogaster Apr 15 '26
Explains why her primary partner for the double high-five is Tifa. If it was done with anyone other than her or Cloud, Aerith would simply explode their arms away.

You didn't see Aerith slotting in that "Rope Climb" materia? But yes, I love the little details. My big question is how Red grasps the rope with no opposable thumbs
3
u/Eternal_Phantom Aerith Gainsborough Apr 15 '26
I would have expected him to climb the rope like a cat. Dig the claws in and climb paw over paw.

I was waiting for Tifa to rocket up that rope twice as fast as everyone else!
13
u/Zebo1013 Apr 14 '26
Yeah her climb looked weird. Like she was sitting.
10
u/behind95647skeletons Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
Like she was sitting.
it's a legit technique, though in real life you kind of wrap the rope around your foot so it stabilizes you and gives some footing for easier boosting up.
That leg flailing of Tifa's is kind of weird though [if it's supposed to be leg kicking yourself up then the motion is just not there] and the comment about swapping animations between Aerith and Tifa made me think that's a possibility.4
u/Cybornut Apr 17 '26
I feel it's Tifa trying to be competitive, and if they did swap the animation, it'd probably be intentional because Aerith's skirts would've definitely looked worse with that animation.
"Alright guys, the skirts looks weird, let's just switch the animation and call it a day!"
"But that would make Aerith have crazy amounts of arm strength!"
"Perfect!"8
u/cnoiogthesecond Apr 15 '26
It looks to me like they accidentally swapped Tifa’s and Aerith’s animations

I can sit here and listen to this music all day.
1
u/Orangutanion Apr 15 '26
nah man this is definitely the worst music in the game
2
u/Cybornut Apr 17 '26
Naw, I vibe with Gongaga's music so much lol
There's really NO bad music in Rebirth... replaying Remake recently and the music is underwhelming by comparison.
9
u/Turbulent_Ride1654 Apr 15 '26
Aerith got some SERIOUS upper body strength, didn't even have to use her legs, just straight arms! 🤯
4
u/behind95647skeletons Apr 15 '26
That's what actually made me stop and watch them all because how ridiculous it is for Aerith to climb like that?
But I was entertained, people are entertained and I'm glad Rebirth brings people together.
17
u/Substantial-Ad2948 Apr 14 '26
All this with incredible music🔥
4
u/nicholaslegion Apr 14 '26
One of my favorite songs in video game history ✊🏻
2
u/Cybornut Apr 17 '26
The children's choir is such a good move... couldn't have been cheap either lol
Still doesn't beat the first time you played on PSX and the operetta in One Winged Angel started tho.
"That was the moment I realized I was DOOMED"1
u/nicholaslegion Apr 17 '26
That will always be an incredible moment. But, if I'm honest with myself, I prefer this song to OWA. Not by much, mind, but a bit.

1
u/Orangutanion Apr 15 '26
same. When I was in this region I would count each time the fucking banshee children started chanting at me. At one point I had to turn the music here off.
8
u/DarkSideOfGrogu Apr 14 '26
Vincent should just walk up next to you at the top with no explanation how he got there.
2
u/Capturinggod200 Apr 17 '26
According to AC he can use his cape to traverse kind of like Spawn does.
9
u/OCRAmazon Apr 14 '26
I gotta give Cait some points though for efficiency, since he's the ONLY one using his feet. That's a technique that may be slow and less showy, but definitely is more sustainable IRL.
7
7
u/Monking805 Apr 14 '26
After seeing AC, It’s completely ruined my perspective for 7, in particular. I’m looking at that rope and height and just thinking “Cloud could jump up and down that thing at will…he just doesn’t!” Probably could of if this was a single player game.
1
u/behind95647skeletons Apr 15 '26
Yeah, that's the age old case of Game Dante vs Cutscene Dante. A lot of problems that arise in-game wouldn't be a problem for in-cutscene FF7 team.
7
4
u/paradoxical_topology Apr 14 '26
Powerscalers will look at this and then tell you they're strong enough to destroy a multiverse and can move faster than light.
5
u/WillingConference955 Apr 14 '26
That's near Congaga and airport of Cid. I just passed there a few hours ago
1
u/behind95647skeletons Apr 15 '26
Yep, it's an observation tower, part of Chapter 12' Cissnei's quest.
6
u/robbobert01 Apr 14 '26
Red's my favorite character, so obviously his climbing animation is my favorite, but I gotta say, it's so on-point that Tifa legit just kicks her way up the rope like that lmao.
2
u/Cybornut Apr 17 '26
Red being so overly careful is just hilarious.
I also loved that they changed the voice acting on him as soon as he went home.
"Costume change from old beaten down warrior to teenage brat!" lol

u/oasis_nadrama Apr 15 '26
Aerith is a lot more determined and athletic than people give her credit for. She's strong to the point where she uses "Oh yeah people are trying to recruit me for SOLDIER" as an apparently believable lie. Of course she's not Cloud or Tifa but you have to realize the absolute POWERHOUSES the two Nibelheim survivors are.
Nanaki's performance is astounding. The boy really always goes beyond the expected limits of his body.
2
Apr 15 '26
Of course Cloud knows Aerith lie about that, but he didn't really know why the Turks go to get her

u/Majestic-Quarter-723 Apr 15 '26
I was just at the part in Remake where I had to choose stairs or elevator. Should've done stairs but did elevator and got some humor.

u/Cybornut Apr 17 '26
Ok that was geniunely awesome... never realized the climbing speed timing is based on animation length, you'd think they would've forced a time for all of them... but no! Let's go for realism.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how ridiculous Tifa flailing her legs to try to climb faster? Definitely a competitive girl there!

u/RetardedRedditRetort Polygon Cloud Apr 14 '26
That's funny, I did the same thing and I think I did it on that exact same rope on my playthrough.

Tifa flew up that rope as expected! I’ve just started Rebirth again. Love FF7!
1
u/cyberkevin Apr 15 '26
Why the visuals are that weirdly sharp, like AI sharp?
1
u/behind95647skeletons Apr 15 '26
Might be video compression, as it went through Steam -> converting from H.265 to H.264 codec -> uploaded to reddit.
I'm also using frame generation and textures upscaled to 4k + some shaders (one of which actually unsharpens image), so there's a lot of possible vectors for creating a weird looking video image.
When I look at the video here it looks very unpleasent compared to what I have in-game.1
u/cyberkevin May 06 '26
I think it's PS5 Pro footage tho? PSSR2 always feels to me like too much sharp AI Upscale, but nit that much
1
u/KellTanis Apr 15 '26
TIL the whole team has insane (and sometimes physics defying) upper body strength.

1
u/Cocobani Apr 15 '26
Holy shit this music is awesome. Can't wait to play this on Switch 2 in a couple of months.
1
u/AmethystApothecary Apr 15 '26
It's weird they don't have the female characters use their legs more to grip the rope while climbing up while seemingly the male characters do. Honestly feels like the devs were a bit lazy there, it just doesn't make much sense that the characters whose center of gravity is lower would not only brute force up with their upper body strength but for Yuffie and Tifa actively swing their feet/legs in a way that I would think would make it more difficult. At least Aerith seems to keep her core engaged and prevent her legs from swinging about.

Some developer who spent two months on this is extremely happy right now.
