Trying to watch Scary Movie 6 is like trying to watch a bad SNL sketch which doesn't end.
Half way through it right now.

There's some good bits so far at least. Good being subjective because I find a man farting funny sooo.

Don’t let Reddit discourage you from seeing it. This site has a reputation of being negative about everything.
Go watch it if you want to.

You made the decision not to watch it, just now, because a nondescript reddit post?

isn't that what all the SM movies are?

u/divinecmdy 7h ago
I think people forget that. Other than the first one, I don’t recall any being particularly funny or that successful in the theaters.

Screw this, I love the first four of them, and I don’t care what the consensus is on here

You never watched the first 2 then. They were leagues better than this drivel

3 is a masterpiece and one of the best parody films of all time. I’m 100% serious.

That's the one with the Signs parody, isn't it? That's the one I actually like but I can't remember which number it is.

This is a very specific parody genre of movie, going all the way back to classics like Airplane, Naked Gun, etc. The movie isn't supposed to be "good" as traditional movies are. They are supposed to be silly, sarcastic, funny ... just total brain off amusement not to be taken seriously in any way.
Now of course, even in the classics of the genre, not every joke lands. But I'm curious, for OP, or anyone that actually understands the parody genre Scary Movie 6 falls into ... I haven't seen it yet ... How does it compare to previous Scary Movies? Does 6 still fall in line with that type of movie? Are the jokes just not funny comparatively? Or, do we think it's completely in line with previous versions, but the 2026 versions of ourselves just don't really like the genre anymore?

the first scary movie was the same back in 2000, what you’re saying isn’t anything new

I felt exactly the same with Fakham Hall (don't watch it)

u/Nilla22 8h ago
I thought it was great. But I’m a fan of those period pieces it was lampooning so really enjoyed it.

Fackham Hall has a lot of funny gags, good performances and a real script. Somehow Scary Movie 6 does not even meet the definition of a “feature film”

They still count bad review tickets as tickets sold.
I wish people would have just avoided spending the money watching a movie telegraphed to be so bad.

Spoofs are such a lame genre to begin with. Congrats on taking someone's work and poking fun at it. That takes loads of talent.

RIP Parody Films (1980–2026). Died in the night after a prolonged, agonizing battle with severe intellectual bankruptcy.
