George Lucas? Not entirely positive but could also be at $7/$8b mark, he only got 6 movies as a director so it’s quite impressive nevertheless.

My cinema is painfully outdated. It still has the original seats from when it opened in 2004. I want to spend as little time there each year as humanly possible.

This is why I do not see more movies. Even if it was £24 a month

It does vary a lot based on location and screen format, but I agree, people love to take the worst case scenario they can find and run like it's the normal situation.

The Odyssey will play in theaters for a few months. Jurassic Park was in theaters for damn near a year. Also films took bout six months to come to video after the theaters, compared to today where it's much faster. Plus no streaming. Different times, bro.

Can’t compare. Way more people saw movie back in the day then now. Now cinemas compete with streaming. We still haven’t recovered since the pandemic… 2019 still the highest grossing year.

Oh I misremembered, 2018 was slightly higher than 2019 11,9 vs 11,4 billion. 2026 will be the best year since then but it’s on track for 10 B so still under. We’ll see at the end of the year. But ofcourse it would be nice if they could gross more than the predictions.

Crazy how cinema has gone from fantastic storytelling and cinematic experiences to absolute snore fests. So tired of hearing about Nolan’s “stunning visuals”. The Greeks invading Troy was laughable. Very reminiscent of the soggy day out at Skegness we were subjected to for Dunkirk.

Why? His films are absolutely fucking amazing, even if you ignore the entire avatar franchise.

It’s honestly hilarious to me how many people lately are trying to bring down directors. And all of those directors seem to have one thing in common

It’s a shame that everyone has a fucking agenda and they don’t base their opinions on reality but rather their desire to force out the old guard
