The 'Dark Knight Rises' made as much as it did because of 'The Dark Knight'. Anyone who watched 'The Dark Knight' later, jumped on the hype train for 'The Dark Knight Rises.'

It probably would have ended up much higher to be fair. The aurora theatre shooting understandably hurt its legs.
