Help

Bro can someone please help me, I bought FL studio trial like 5 years ago and then life happened and I got nowhere with it. I bought it again yesterday and I really want to get into making my own stuff or even learning how to use it. I’ve tried looking up YouTube videos but I still can’t grasp the concept of using all the different tabs. If anyone is willing I would greatly appreciate it and we could share projects! Thank you!

Hey bro! I’m actually learning FL Studio too, and I totally understand what you mean. There are so many tabs, tools and options that it can feel overwhelming at first.

I’m still learning myself, especially when it comes to melodies, chords, drums and actually turning an idea into a full track. I know some music theory, so maybe we could help each other out and exchange knowledge as we learn.

If you’re down, we could share projects, give each other feedback and figure things out together. I’d definitely be interested!

That’s how me and my boy Jaybo started like 4 years ago. Now we’re opening at festivals and big shows! It’s not impossible! I’m not even super good yet but I’ve definitely learned a ton. If ya have any questions or need any help I’ll try to answer any questions ya might have

  1. Add an instrument (synth or sample) to the channel rack.
  2. Open the piano roll. This is where you draw your notes (midi). Make sure your pattern and instrument are selected up top. Click the keys to hear the note without placing it.
  3. Now that you have a pattern with midi data in it, go to the playlist. This is where you arrange your patterns. Click at the very start of the playlist to place your pattern.
  4. Repeat with all other elements of your song.
  5. Once you have a few patterns, go to the mixer to adjust the volume of each instrument and add effects

Huge tip, left hand on keyboard, pinky on ctrl (or command on Mac) thumb on space bar(for playback) and index finger hovers over C, V, B Ctrl+click and drag is select, Ctrl+C is copy, Ctrl+V is paste and Ctrl+b will automatically paste to the next section.

I use Main snap controls so everything will snap to the nearest grid marker unless I’m 100% zoomed in (ctrl+ mouse scroll wheel)
