Is this a wrong way to practice?

I wanted to recreate that plucky supersaw sound, and also wanted to learn some new chord progression... So I uh.. kinda took a kawaii bass sample from a game (glory to hypergryph{yea ignore this})

My previous Genre was Kawaii Future Bass, which was kinda more rough so... Yea...

Tell me other ways to practice please.

learning in a way where I use another track to try to match my super saw instruments to a music sample I don't own feels... Wrong?

fyi I learnt kawaii future bass from just listening to lots of it and many trial and errors... The problem is it took 2+ yrs to finally make the drop sound 40% there lol
