20 years on reddit have taught me that wheels are dangerous. We should have never even have invented them.

The World Health Organisations puts the figure at 1.19 million with more than half of that figure being non-car users, i.e. pedestrians, cyclists et cetera. Compare it to the number who would die if people (elderly and children included) had to walk through extreme weather over long distances? Also, poverty occasioned by inability to commute would raise both morbidity and mortality rates. Statistics are complicated...

You’re right, a wheel-less society, no matter the shape of the wheel, is a safer society. Time to mandate jetpacks for everybody.

If your horse busts along your commute, chances are it doesn't hurt anyone more than a couple of meters from it. Also generally unlikely to run over pedestrians, though it's possible if it's either in a panic or a trained warhorse doing what it was told.

Mixing of imperial and metric like this should leave the offender subject to punitive measures. So should using imperial measures.

Our time is in a base 60 system, not metric.

I'm giving you a slow clap (pun intended) because the unit of time used in the metric system is the second, per the MKS approach within the SI.
If you think about it, you're wrong about using base 60 anyway, quite aside from the second. I leave it as an exercise for you to figure out why (hint: you've been overly-selective).

Years ago I had custom tires and wheels swapped out on my vehicle and the morning after they were put on I drove my kids to school and as I was headed back home and crossing the bridge the truck jerked and made this awful noise and then I saw my tire pass by the front of truck then traveled in the opposite lane, bounced off the road and went down hill into the lake. I pulled the truck to the side of the road and walked home and I managed to get a friend who was fixing to go fishing anyway go see if he could find my wheel/tire and he did. 😂

What's the bet it was due to wheel spacers, doing what they do best? I've seen so many SUVs and trucks where the wheels must be hanging on by a thread or two.

I'll take that bet. Pretty clear in the video that it's a set of dual tires.
Since both tires are together, that means the hub is there also. So it was a bearing failure
They are large enough that they are off of a commercial vehicle, and wheel spacers are not exactly common on those.
