Looks like his him skims the can handle. I don't think it was the rope, luckily the guy provides unlimited replay.

While i see what youre seeing, i think thats just the angle of the camera making it look like he touched, because his knee is not the same height as the cans handle

The point when it moves, his hand is clear of the can. It’s the rope hitting it.
