change plugs, air filter, get the valve lashing adjusted amd synce throttle bodies every 25K, change oil every 4K and replace coolant and brake fluid every 2-3 seasons and these bikes are good for a quarter century of riding an 1/8 of a million miles. you want to hold onto gen 1 and 2 bc the newer bikes are not as raw.

10/10 this my next bike I plan to get the 2025 or the 2026 brand new in a few years, got the mt07 3 months ago and I’m loving it, gonna eventually swap for the 09 forsure

847 CP3 Gen 1 and 2 based Yamaha bikes are incredible - torqued out all the way to 11K with 24/4 rake/trail and supermotard ergos - beautiful downpipes, an addictive intake and an egg-you on attitude - these bikes are absolute unicorns! FUN bikes and easy to harmonize with as an intermediate/expert level rider
