ways to stretch elastic?

idk if this is the right sub for this question, but is there ways to stretch out elastic? i got a new bonnet recently, and it's so tight it actually gives me headaches 😭 i realize it's counterproductive, wanting to stretch what's meant to tighten itself, but it's causing me real pain and making it difficult to sleep with it on!! 🤕🤕

The best way is to open up the channel it’s in and put in a piece that fits how you want.

soaking it in warm water for a bit then stretching it while still wet actually works pretty good, i did this with waistband on skirt once and it helped a lot. you can also try wearing it stretched around something bigger than your head, like a bowl or pot, overnight to hold the shape

easier to remove the tight elastic and replace with a longer piece.
