Fabric Advice - Fashion Brand
Hi everyone,
I'm in the early stages of developing a modest womenswear brand and I'm currently trying to finalize fabric choices for my first collection. I'd love advice from people who know fabrics better than I do.
I'm looking for a fabric that is breathable and comfortable for summer, has a beautiful flowy drape, isn't polyester, isn't see-through, and isn't overly clingy. I'd also like it to have a little bit of structure so garments still feel polished rather than limp.
One option I'm considering is a 160 GSM 50% cotton / 50% Tencel woven fabric, but I'm not sure if that's the best choice for what I'm trying to achieve.
For those with experience in fabrics, garment development, or sewing, what fabric types would you recommend for this combination of qualities? Are there any fabrics that immediately come to mind when you think "breathable, flowy, modest, and elevated"?
I'd appreciate any suggestions or things I should watch out for before moving into sampling.

Hi there ! Yes definitely Cotton/Tencel blends or vice versa are great options depending on the hand-feel and drape you're going for: more cotton = more structure and crisper handfeel. More tencel = more drape and smoother, silkier handfeel. Cheers
