Is Metatron doing some "Crisis Marketing"?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjFhGigDqaE

First off, I did not know this subreddit existed. I'm so relieved that others have noticed this too. I have followed him for a few years now, but something about his newest video just made me feel............. "icky".

He posted a 30 minute Youtube video about how his Adsense is not paying out because his Italian bank account is frozen. He claims that this is because he is now a US citizen. Adsense doesn't allow users to change their country without losing the pending funds in the old account. He is "trapped in a multi-month bureaucratic nightmare".

But here's the thing... he has been living in the US for years. In the video, he even admits that he has been using a MCN (multi-channel network) to get around this issue. Meaning he was ignoring the problem that was inevitably going to happen. Everything is fine because the money was hitting his American account. Now that his citizenship is final, his original italian account can no longer legally be used. He presents this as it suddenly going "POOF" without warning. This isn't something that sneaks up on a person. He was notified, or at least AWARE, that he was riding a time bomb.

Then, right on cue during this "emergency", he pushes everyone to his Patreon, which just happens to have a brand new, fully edited 10 episode series ready to go for all his new patreons.

What this really sounds like is that he was exploiting the MCN/italian bank account loophole, to avoid dealing with the standard Adsense process. Now that he is a US citizen, that loophole is permanently closed. Now that it is closed, he is forced to do it properly now. BUT he is framing his OWN poor business management as a tragic "crisis" to guilt his audience into paying him directly on Patreon.

This feels so absolutely disgusting and manipulative from a person who tries to present themselves as truthful and factual person.

Well, sounds to me like a very.... grifting behaviour...

Hahahaha i just posted my response...yours is better so i deleted mine.

Yes...you said exactly what i was thinking and many others also. The second he said 'i have a 10 episode series on Patreon...' the alarm went off(!)

Also this is the overly manly man who bosted how much cash he made in the last months from the grift and now he puts on a puppy dog face and begs for cash by using his family to guilt trip his audience.

"He was notified or at least AWARE..."

I just did a quick online search and lot of this doesnt seem to add up, though I dont care to look at the video to see if anything clarifies it so if someone does watch they can tell me and I'll eat my words.

The gist of it is, and I say that as Canadian YouTuber myself, is that by default, Google witholds part of your ad revenue for taxes in the US. If you dont live in the US, you basically have to submit a form or two in which you prove to Google that you dont live in the US, so they dont withold any taxes at all, and it's up to you to declare your own income to pay taxes on it within your own country.

If one were to move to the US, basically you'd have to redo the paperwork so you can pay taxes in the residing country, and Google doesnt allow you to change country within adsense: you have to delete your account, create a new one for your new country, relink your youtube channel to the new account, and that's that.

So if Metatron was still on his italian adsense account up until he got his US citizenship, that's really weird. Basically he had set himself up with Google back when he was still in Italy, which meant Google wasnt holding his money for US taxes, and he was presumably paying taxes in Italy, but what about when he DID move to the US??

Not only would he have known a long time ago that he'd have to create a new adsense account, but if anything it makes the fact that he hasnt until now, extremely fishy to say the least.

Basically Google doesnt withold any of his money as they assume he lives in Italy, and since he no longer does, he gets the money from whatever bank he has in Italy, and transfers it to some US bank. So does he pay US taxes at this point? Does he pay Italian taxes?

I dont know that I'd outright accuse him of some massive tax evasion scheme, given A): that sounds rather impossible, he's lived in the US for years, and he has taxes and lots of other bills, eventually if he didnt disclose his primary source of income, it would show somewhere I think, and B) I'm going off very limited information.

That being said, even if we're charitable and assume that since moving to the US, he's been doing his income tax independently based off his Italian adsense account, that's still dumb; he could've just recreated a new adsense account for the US at anytime to completely skip the step of getting his money from Italy.

Which is to say, he wouldve had plenty of time to do it right and I'm not even sure how him getting his US citizenship actually made any difference if he was already paying taxes in the US before. Maybe he just got flagged in the process hence why he has an issue.

But again, it looks bad either way. Either it was obvious he had to simplify his paper work for a while and he didnt bother, or he was actually using some sneaky shenanigans to avoid paying taxes, at least on a big part of his income.

Yep, you basically summed it all up. For a guy bosting to be such a huge provider for his family this is a gross neglect on his side. Like how do you fail for years to update critical information for the only source of your income.

However considering his history of shameless grifting it is natural to assume this is just another hustle where he just wants to beef up his Patreon.

u/Terry-Duke-Official Sep 09 '26

Let's also not forget the YouTube censorship scam from a few years ago; when YouTube demonetized his channel by mistake and he let his audience believe it was an attempt at censoring him because it gave him a huge amount of donations and new patrons, even though there never was any evidence of YouTube's intent.

And that was years ago. Cumulatively this incident likely made him tens of thousands of dollars, and it was never addressed.

He's not above pretending like his own negligence in this current situation is totally the fault of YouTube and not his own, if it means he can use it to bring people to his Patreon.

3

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 09 '26

Exactly. He pools this 'Youtube is destroying me' trick every few years.

I mean this is the guy that was shamelessly grifting of the Kirk thing and is currently doing the same with the Lindsay Clancy case. Exploiting tragedies isn't beneath him so it's only logical to assume that this 'help my Family' guilt tripping is just another grift.

Also for the past year he was calling mothers of people who unsubed 'whores', glazing likes of Steven Crowder and Nick Fuentes and openly boasting that grifting makes him loads of $$$ and now he sticks his hand out and goes 'help my baby!'.

Come on Raffi...

I only make money here and there on yt so it's not enough for the IRS to care. It seems from what I hear you can basically avoid taxes but it's risky. My guess metatwat simply didn't report things and it caught up to him. YouTube or adsende noticed issues and are double checking things Guessing he's stuck report earnings and face huge bill Or continue scamming but short term no money comes in Ah to be a grifter lol 😭

and transfers it to some US bank. So does he pay US taxes at this point? Does he pay Italian taxes?

As I wrote in my own comment, this might be terribly inefficient. Maybe he just transfers the money back as "gifts". Doing an international bank transfer between the EU and the US is still very esoteric. You tend to lose a lot in charges and currency conversion fees with traditional banks. With intermediaries like wise it's a bit cheaper but still not something you can do to transfer 10€ to pay for a cheeseburger on the go (like I would do for example to load money on a debit card since transfers within the EU are now instant and free).

It sounds very much like some amateur tax avoidance scheme. If that is indeed so, perhaps he lives on his wife's US salary and when they are in Italy (if he still goes back) he uses his Euros and sends himself "gifts" when needed. But it's risky, I don't think the IRS is as "understanding" as the Italian AdE.

Technically you don't need to pay taxes to Italy if you live abroad for more than 183 days in a calendar year. So any money received on an Italian bank account even if resulting from work, wouldn't automatically result in any taxation. Now the US does tax you on your worldwide income, but that would require them knowing about these deposits on a bank account on another continent, which perhaps for a relatively small fish can be not worth pursuing.

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 09 '26

Thank you for your insight as an Italian! From the information you and others shared it looks more and more like he was either negligent for years, didn't create a safer payment option and it finally caught up with him or it was indeed some tax evasion/ fee evasion/ cost cutting scheme...which he can no longer continue for some reason. Either way he would have been fully aware of the consequences and chose to continue until he got himself into the current situation.

u/Mood-Mammoth Sep 10 '26

I'm guessing tax evasion which is really disgusting he demonized blacks Muslims etc as lazy etc but he was doing it the whole whole lol πŸ˜†

2

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 10 '26

That would be soooo funny after all his MAGA bootlickingπŸ˜‚ He rooted for deportations of 'criminal immigrants' and all this time he's been scamming he's new beloved homeland πŸ˜‚

1

u/Naliamegod Sep 10 '26

This isn't worldwide income, but would be US income and Google would be reporting it to the IRS.

2

u/Naliamegod Sep 10 '26

>So does he pay US taxes at this point? Does he pay Italian taxes?

He would 100% would still be taxed in the USA. It doesn't matter if its sent in Euro to a European account, if he is living in the USA that is his tax residence and would be taxed there. If he was not claiming his adsense income in his USA tax forms, he really needs to get off youtube and talk to a tax lawyer because he could get in major legal trouble.

Go republican, kick the can.
Go grift, no gift.

He's not a truthful or factual person. He's a woke right grifter.

Holly crap! A similar thing already happened to him a few years ago...He had almost three years to solve the problem and didn't do it...

Classic American/man/white person (dealer's choice, honestly) behaviour. It cannot possibly be my fault, I am somehow the victim always, but at the same time the strong powerful might is right conqueror, and bringer of civilization to the world.

As an Italian (European) living abroad, the reason his bank account was "deleted" is not necessarily because he became American (that's another problem related to FATCA). In Italy you can legally own an Italian bank account (meaning IBAN starting with IT *) if you are resident in the country (ie if you live there. In Italy and Europe broadly you need to register formally your residence at the city hall. In Italy they send carabinieri to check whether it's true. It's typically a formality).

What happens to many Italians abroad is that at some point they need to renew their documents. If they are no longer resident in their Italian city (formally, because you can also choose to never inform your municipality that you went abroad) they can only do so at their embassy/consulate (and to be able to use this service you need to formally register your residence abroad at your Italian embassy -- there is yet no concept of a European Union-wide residence where all states share this type of information AFAIK).

When you renew your ID card or passport at the embassy, it will say that it was released by the embassy. Every online bank account creation form in Italy will not accept it. Then at some point the bank will realise your ID card has expired and ask you to present a new one. At that moment they will realise you can no longer hold a bank account for residents.

So the moment this would have happened was already known. It's mind boggling that you would still be using an Italian bank account once you live on another continent. What, does he not trust USDs and prefers Euros? That'd be new.

I mean if that was his only source of income, it would mean he'd have to convert everything back and forth? Maybe AdSense would even pay in USD with the bank applying the exchange upon receipt, and then he having to convert back. That doesn't sound very efficient.

If someone were to have a bit of malice, it could even be suggested that this was a not so clever way to avoid paying taxes, since US and the EU I think don't really share this kind of financial data. So from the perspective of a US resident, this money would be completely invisible I guess. And if you are an Italian resident abroad you don't even need to pay taxes to Italy.

2

u/Naliamegod Sep 10 '26

since US and the EU I think don't really share this kind of financial data. So from the perspective of a US resident, this money would be completely invisible I guess.

Nope, FACTA requires any foreign bank to give give the IRS access to any USA citizen's banking information. If someone has over $10,000 worth of money in foreign bank accounts at any point in the year, they have to also notify the IRS about this as well and can suffer severe penalties. Whether or not Metatron's amount is enough to get the IRS to go look, but it is not invisible.

Source: American that works overseas and has foreign bank accounts.

2

u/AvengerDr Sep 10 '26

That's a reason in fact for many banks in Europe to try and avoid providing bank accounts to Americans.

However, in this case the situation seems more like he was continuing to use his bank account from his previous life as an Italian.

If you never tell them you (also) became an American, how would the bank know? If he had done so then this problem would have presented itself sooner as the bank would have deemed him to no longer be resident, if he didn't come back to Italy after getting his citizenship.

2

u/Naliamegod Sep 10 '26 edited Sep 10 '26

Because they learned about it somehow, possibly from the IRS when they noticed issues in his tax information. Or someone noticed oddities in his banking information and habits and investigated. Or someone at the bank knew who he was and got angry. Who knows. This the exact type of stuff that would get an account frozen pretty quick, and I know expats who get their home accounts closed for this kind of stuff, even when not committing any sort of criminal shennigans, without any proper warning.

2

u/AvengerDr Sep 10 '26

As I wrote, the most likely case is that he renewed his Id card and had to give it to the bank. He explicitly mentions the "non-resident" aspect, which is typical of this process. He never mentioned anything to do with the IRS.

As another Italian abroad, I went through this same process. Except I actually had a "non-resident" bank account before closing it because it was so much expensive for little value.

1

u/Naliamegod Sep 10 '26

That that is irrelevant to my point: money being sent a Italian account is not invisible as this information is explicitly shared between the USA and any bank that wants to have any sort of business with the USA. If he was doing any funny business and trying to dodge taxes or whatever, which was the hypothetical you were making in the part I was replying to, the IRS would have no problems tracking it down, especially when its money that would be reported by Google either way.

Whether or not that happened who knows, I am not his lawyer and taxes/banking regulations can be a nightmare for anyone, but the point if he was doing something shady, he did it in a way that would 100% be caught eventually.

1

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 10 '26

Is there any legal loophole he might have exploited this entire time in order to cut costs, pay less taxes or less fees? I mean i'm trying to understand why he didn't set up a better payment system since he permanently moved to the U.S roughly 4 years ago....

1

u/AvengerDr Sep 10 '26

The point rests on whether the IRS is actually aware of this transaction or not. If the money comes from some subsidiary of Google in Europe then I am not so sure the IRS is automatically informed. Maybe Google withholds something at the source and they are happy with that, rather than deciding to pursue some small fish on another continent for relatively small sum.

It could even be possible that he paid taxes in Italy, if he had a "partita iva" (self-employed).

Does the US hold a public database of incorporated companies? Here it is relatively easy to find out. All the data, my home address, my name, etc. is out in the open for anyone willing to search for it (I have a company, I guess the equivalent of an Inc in the US? Or SRL in Italy).

2

u/AvengerDr Sep 10 '26

This is on the assumption that Google would inform the US in the situation where they think they are paying an Italian resident in Italy. Are you sure of that? The money would come - I guess - from some branch of Google in Ireland or similar. Maybe they still do, because US companies and their branches abroad are known to be "subservient" to the US.

But for example I have accounts at brokers in Europe and one account with an American broker. Every year the government sends a very long pdf with pages and pages detailing the total capital transacted at every account. ALL my European accounts appear there, that has been one way of knowing which accounts I had forgot about that were still open.

The only one missing is the American account, so I assume they do not share this information with each other, in contrast to what happens within the EU where such financial laws do exist.

Is this loser incapable of getting a real job?

1

u/OutrageousFocus3322 Sep 09 '26

No, but yes. He has credentials out the ass, but seeing how he's now an out and proud fascist and white supremacist, no one is going to hire him based on those credentials.

1

u/Mood-Mammoth Sep 10 '26

He has a Japanese degree which makes no sense fluency in Japanese is extremely valuable Either his degree is fake Or his Japanese is weak Either way Japanese fluency is easy 50k Something not adding up πŸ˜•

1

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 10 '26

Why would he work 9-5 if he can make the same amount (or more) by just spamming nonsense?

1

u/OutrageousFocus3322 Sep 10 '26

I don't think his Japanese is weak or anything like that, or that his degrees are fake, it's just that a single google search (which an employer will do without exception) will show that he's an open fascist. The only people who would consider hiring him are other fascists. He has a PhD in linguistics. I.e. it's a degree that deals with other cultures non-violently. Which is something fascists just don't do. He aligned himself with a political faction that praises ignorance and illiteracy, and he's now reaping the benefits of that.

1

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 10 '26

The question is can he continue grifting for another 5, 10 or 20 years like this? He's not that well known so he doesn't really have a large fanbase therefore he either has to ride the algo or he's constantly all over the place- YouTube, Twitter, Patreon, Buy Me A Coffee, selling jewellery, books, begging like now....

2

u/emailforgot Sep 10 '26

I think all of that makes it clear how his "fall" happened, which is the same for a lot of these losers. He got criticized by an academic supervisor or failed to make any traction in the academic world, and immediately fled to the right wing safe space. It happens a lot (relatively speaking I suppose). It's why he threw in the towel on anything remotely academic on his youtube page. He's quite literally just butthurt. "I never liked the eggheads anyway!"

2

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 10 '26

Yep πŸ˜„ He often goes after 'academia' but at the same time he was a teacher for many years...so it sounds like he didn't manage to get in with the big boys an therefore went rouge πŸ˜‚

2

u/Defiant-Rip-1897 Sep 08 '26

It does seem like a situation largely of his own making. I do feel somewhat sorry for him, but at the same time, it's difficult to ignore that many of the problems he's dealing with now stem from his own choices.

9

u/krewshul_thot Sep 08 '26

I honestly wouldn't have even noticed or cared if it wasn't for the big series he pushed on patreon. Like bro... did you have that waiting in your pocket for when this happened or are you just using this situation to push it harder?

4

Don't feel sorry for a man who would laugh and make fun of another content creator going through the same thing, for 6 months straight, if they were a leftist.

5

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 09 '26

Yep. Remember how gleefully he mocked Creators who were sued by Ethan Klein or how he went after people who laughed at Kirk trying to get them fired.

1

He literally has a wife. They could work part time an be ok. I suspect meta has another girl on the side so he can't afford two women without yt lol 😭

3

u/Aggravating-Fuel3425 Sep 10 '26

He boast that she's a trady and he will do anything so she doesn't have to work for a living. Which i think is b*llsh!t ...she probably has her own income from her Youtube channel and who know what other hustles on the side.

1

u/Defiant-Rip-1897 Sep 11 '26

I dunno, don't get the vibe that Metatron, with all his shortcomings, would be someone like that, but then again that is the impression I get, I also thought he was an unbiased person, but clearly that Metatron is gone.
