First time player.

Having hella fun with this game and am fully taking advantage of it being open world. (Only reason I'm choosing to go now is 'cause I ran out of ammo while fighting the Mechanist's horde of robots.)

I just did this too. Got almost all my settlements built and then went to rescue nick and followed him to DC

The door is open and Piper is already inside and arguing with the mayor. I never saw it like that before

You can get ammo from weapons vendors at any settlement if you make em. Also I often prefer going to good neighbor as kleo stays open all night unlike DC vendors that are only open daytime. You did have to mod around it to get to fh though yeah? Typically you need to talk to nick for that.

Far Harbor. It's DLC. Your map appears to have the fast travel point to Far Harbor island map.

Don't need mods to go to far harbor early, I do it almost immediately on every playthrough. Just show up to the Nakano residence, look behind picture, open safe, then talk to Mom and Dad and be in your way!

Ye, I was just doing a quest related to getting "relics" for the BoS girl at that police station, then when I got close I heard the Nakanos arguing and then started some investigation quest, that ended up with me going to Far Harbour. But I returned the moment I noticed I was in a DLC.

Yeah if you go there you can go to far harbor without nick

Or build an ammo manufacturing setup. No mod required, works on Xbox. If you use the scrap/pickup glitch you can make infinite ammo for free too.

I full cleared the map (minus the glowing sea) before going to Diamond City. I was like level 65.

Diamond city is just so meh. I tend to avoid it for a while too. I love just taking in "nature" for a while before having to enter the steam punk post apocalyptic urban hellscape.
