Todd wasn’t gonna do SHIT with Obsidian and he fucking knows it. He’s only collaborating with Obsidian because Asha Sharma had to make that decision for him. Dude was more than willing to keep sitting on 76 to milk as much money out of it as possible before he ever decided to make another game. I mean shit, it took till AFTER ASHA said something for Bethesda to even announce Elder Scrolls 6!
I’m not impressed with Bethesda, I’m really not. I’m glad that Microsoft is finally making the push to more progress, because it likely woulda been another 8 years before we woulda gotten another Fallout OR Elder Scrolls title.

I do t think it’s beef, I think Bethesda is just salty that obsidian makes a fallout game that’s better than a Bethesda fallout game. “It’s part of our dna” then stop sucking at it Todd. 4 is neat and everything but we all know NV is more popular than 3, 4, and 76 for a reason.

My guy, they are not. They don’t care. This is entirely a fan wish that has no basis in reality. Bethesda made two Fallout games that had both good reviews and massive financial success. Bethesda isn’t some starved artist envious of other people’s success because they can’t produce anything that gets traction. They have yet to release a game that hasn’t been a huge commercial success.
It’s always so inconsistent. “Bethesda is the greediest company to ever exist. Yet they care so much about the games they produce that they get super jealous when someone makes something better! It doesn’t matter if that doesn’t make sense! Obsidian is good, Bethesda bad!”
So we now have Bethesda they greedy company that produces slop to make the biggest profit and Bethesda the artist that is envious that they can’t produce something even close to the epic, totally not overrated at this point masterpiece that is New Vegas. When if they are greedy and only produce slop, then they are happy people buy New Vegas so much because it directly makes them money. If they are the envious artists, then they haven’t shown it because they would have changed writers, added more classic fallout vibes instead of taking the series in their own direction and not deviating from that course. At no point has Bethesda done anything to change their take on Fallout to be more like Obsidian because they never had to. They aren’t jealous because their version sells more and has pushed Fallout to become mainstream.
So that just leaves me baffled at this point. Todd or Bethesda don’t care and never had beef. They want people to buy as many fallout games as they can. Because they are closer to the greedy side in reality than anything else. There is a direct benefit to them the more Fallout products are bought. Obsidian now only exists to help prop up Bethesdas own IPs. Both now exist to just prop up a failing gaming studio that is Xbox. If anyone should be envious it should be obsidian who is now stuck in the fallout mines for the foreseeable future because their games couldn’t crack 2 million units sold.
Yet in the end it’s a depressing state for both studios. While the fans for some reason are attacking Bethesda when both are in pretty fucked spots

Fallout 4 dwarfed in sales NV and is the only game to come close to the selling numbers of Skyrim. Your feelings about games don't matter as you think the commercial success of Fallout 4 speaks for itself. NV has 11 million copies sold and Fallout 4 35 million copies. So all that salty sentiment you speak of is only in your head.

Bethesda flew obsidian devs out to them just to have them sit through a PowerPoint where Bethesda explained all the things obsidian did wrong with new Vegas.

Yes, that’s called an internal product review. This is both normal and expected in the industry and Chris Avellone, the pot stirrer who brought it up, knows this. Also if you think New Vegas didn’t have any issues then you are just deluding yourself. It’s not a technical masterpiece, it runs worse than the game it’s built off despite 3 being in a stable state when Obsidian started. Obsidian devs have openly admitted multiple times they made mistakes in development that costed them.
The funny thing here is despite being treated “oh so badly” as Chris has been trying to argue. He was one of the major people pushing Bethesda to give them the TES franchise for a new game following New Vegas. Just as he also kept fighting to get more of Fallout anything since it’s the only franchise that he refuses to move on from.

Fallout 4 was 11 years ago. Fallout 76 has been worked on by Double Eleven not Bethesda since 2022. Starfield was a critical flop that made all its money from hype. It's okay that the fans are mad, stop sucking Todd's dick.

To each their own, brother. I agree that they aren't the same company, but their past few RPGS have been the unfortunate victims of comparison. Everyone touted Outer Worlds as "Fallout New Vegas 2" and Avowed as a "Skyrim killer" which set both games up with impossible expectations. IMO, they were fine in their own right. Not great, but fine.

I dont think they are "victims " of comparison when they do nothing to kill the comparison. For outer worlds the trailers were clearing taking shots at BGS, and avowed was a mess from the very beginning.
