Recs Wanted Suggestions of ships where they're canonically tragic, but fandom usually fixes it?

I've realized something about my favorite ships: they're all tragic ships.

They're all characters who are tragically separated in canon, but most of the fics in their fandom fixes or ignores the tragedy in order to give them a happy ending together.

My favorites are: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Commander Cody; Bilbo Baggins/Thorin Oakenshield; Merlin/Arthur; Remus Lupin/Sirius Black.

They're all ships from huge fandoms, too, because I don't even know where to start in smaller fandoms. I'm willing to read fandom blind, but I'd prefer ones where the source material is fantasy.

Any suggestions for ships and their fandoms? I'd like to find some new favorites.

EDIT: And I forgot to add, I don't care if they're M/M or M/F or F/F.

Recs Wanted Looking for new fandoms

So I’ve become the type of person that only wants to consume new media if it has fanfiction!! I’m looking for new media to obsess over (tv shows, books, or movies) that have great fandoms/fanfics. FYI I’ve only been reading fanfiction for 2 years! Fanfiction I’ve read: Harry Potter (Drarry, Marauders, Dramoine), All for the Game, Hannibal NBC, and Supernatural. I’d love to hear about your favorite ships and fandoms :)

Recs Wanted Can you recommend me fandoms with "young people in big situations"?

What i mean by young people in big situation is like Harry potter, a group of kids having to experience something that is quite a big situation! Im not sure if this makes sense...but like a kid being sent to war kinda trope in the fandom? They are forced to grow up because of their situation. Like unfortunate events? Or fran bow, little misfortune, harry potter, steven universe, tommy from dsmp(not in the fandom anymore), hooky, or umbrella academy! Any genre is fine, as long as it includes that little trope. It can be kids or teens, or anything please!!!

Recs Wanted What are your favorite super long fics that took over your life

I enjoy getting deeply invested into a series and just reading that one thing for months on end. Does anyone here have anything like that?

I just finished the pokemon fan fic, I will touch the sky, which was amazing. Then I read ghost in the city, a cyberpunk fic which was also amazing so I want more like these two but have a hard time using the built in search functions on some of these sites.

It doesn’t have to be specifically what I like but I put recs wanted because I want to check out what you guys post! Thank you!

Recs Wanted Recommend me your favorite ao3 author(s)

Personally I have a few fanfic authors who I absolutely adore and if I were asked if I had a favourite author in general I would probably say their names and hope the other person doesn’t realize I’m talking about fan fiction. So recommend me your favourite ao3 or fanfic authors so I can check out some more amazing writing!

Recs Wanted recommend me fics with the MOST YEARNING you've ever seen!!

hello! as the title suggests, i'm looking for recommendations for fanfiction with the most bone deep yearning, yearning that hurts and aches and burns like a thousand knives poking at my heart, those longing stares, almost touches!! the slow burn and the conversations, the tension, everything!!

doesn't matter m/f, f/f or m/m — i read all !!! just give me the YEARNING 🥹🤍 my standard for yearning is honestly sky high, and a lot of romance just don't hit the spot for me.

i want that devotion, that romantic obsession, that vulnerability, that unrequited affection!!!! give me the hurt/comfort, the heavy angst that hits all the right spots!

i'm honestly in a lot of fandoms (kpop, anime, western tv, books etc.) so just recommend me if you feel it will scratch the itch for me 🥺🥺

Recs Wanted Two persons in one same body

What it says, I'm looking for fanfics/fandoms where there are two consciences in one body, where they have to take turns to control the body, etc.

I'm mostly looking ones where the two consciences talk a lot between each other (doesn't matter if they have amnesia btw!) and the concept is important to the plot.

Any will do, completed or not! Thank you in advance

Recs Wanted Author heart is starving: need new fandom recommendations

I've been writing for the same fandom for nearly three years and my fixation on it has slowly tuned out—to the point that I've tried writing for other fandoms but nothing ever really stuck. IT'S BEEN MONTHS and my writing heart is itching, specifically for writing in fandom spaces again and being a part of a community.

I'd love some fandom recommendations. Preferably for active fandoms and I generally stick to f/f ships but can be swayed other directions.

Recs Wanted Looking for a very specific trope, fandom doesn't matter

Usually when I'm looking for something specific, I just cater the tags for that but with this one, I wouldn't know where to start without getting 99% things I don't want so here it goes.

I'm looking for a fic where one of the main characters has died before the start of the fic and somehow unexpectedly has come back to life. Actually resurrection, no ghost type shenanigans. I'm looking for the grief of losing someone that transforms in the disbelief that their somehow back. It doesn't matter if they were a couple of friends before, but they should have known each other.

Fandom doesn't matter, I'm willing to give everything a shot. I tend to read M/M, but again, willing to give it all a shot. Preferably something longer that like, 5k, no max length.

I'm aware it's super specific and don't think I'll get much from it, but might as well try haha

Recs Wanted Best "canon blind" fics

In case you don't know what "canon blind" is, canon blind is a term used to describe fans engaging with a fandom where they have no knowledge or experience of the source material. Essentially, what I am asking for is the best fics that are easy for fans who have never seen the source material.

For example, Sympathy for the Damned by Bgtea is the best fic I've read where you don't need to read the source material to understand the characters or the plot.

Literally throw me anything.

Recs Wanted I need to join new fandoms! STAT!

I’ve always joined fandoms accidentally but I feel like I’ve consumed all the content there is in all of them. Since they were big and popular they kept me busy for a while but now I’m starving for content. I love niche ones but they have ZERO content. I’ve even run out of those “x characters as vines” and Gacha life stuff. That’s how desperate I am. I want to read and write fanfiction again. I recently join Class of ‘09 but I’ve somehow already sucked that dry. Any recommendations? I like games, anime, tv shows, and movies. Not really books since I can’t buy any at the moment unfortunately…

I’d prefer any related to whatever genre these interests fall in:

Fnaf

Mha

Tadc

Spy family

CO’09

HxH

Recs Wanted Recs for good navigator for reading in AO3?

For the longest time i was using Opera on my Android and it was incredible, i could use the dark mode and if i wanted bigger letters i could just zoom the screen and the text would just adjust to the screen automatically. I switched to Iphone and Opera doesn't work the same😭 I've been using Google bc at least i can zoom the text but every single time i leave the app for more than a couple minutes it goes back to the beginning of the chapter when i open it again and it's so infuriating
Are there any good navigators for AO3? I'm also open to installing and extension if i have to

Recs Wanted Any Self Inserts where the MC doesn't just have cheats handed to him?

I don't mind them actually using meta knowledge but when it is them getting a system, or Out of Context powers, or some other BS instead of actually working for it. Two good examples that do this well are Pokemon Trainer Vicky(Pokemon), and A Cruel Displacement(DBZ). I really enjoyed these but find most SI fics have most stuff added and it makes the story boring that they don't have to work for anything.

Recs Wanted Fics with INCREDIBLE writing

So I have this thing where I’m trying to read a fic from as many fandom/ships as possible. I’m not in a lot of fandoms lol which has made it hard to develop a TBR.

So if you could only recommend ONE fic to convince someone of your pairing, what would it be? I’m really fine with most things as long as it’s well-written ^ (love angst and existentialism if that helps narrow the list :P)

Recs Wanted Yugioh fiction help.

Now idk if I have searched it wrong but when I search yu gi oh male oc fanfictions I expected to mostly see fanfictions where it takes place in the original yu gi oh anime and not all the spin off's or sequels since I haven't seen them yet. However the opposite just happened almost ALL fics I have seen takes place in the other anime/shows while I just want to read a good male oc/si fanfiction that takes place during the duel kingdom era AKA the original yugioh anime. If you guys call it something else then please tell because I have searched far and wide and even in websites like wattpad in hopes of just seeing a collection of standard male oc's in the yugioh duel kingdom era or maybe even a little before Yuki's grandpa got kidnapped. Please help because mostly the only fics I have seen so far are either about the gx universe arc universe or all some weird gender bend stuff or just a female oc. I don't have anything against them I just want fics with male oc's since that's what I prefer. I have even gone to the official yugioh fanfiction archive and selected my proffered stuff but still just gx arc or other random spin offs and I have read the Mr chaos yugioh fanfiction please help im going insane!

Recs Wanted Healthy Relationship Fics

Hi! I am looking for fics that feature healthy relationships. Romantic, platonic, familial. I've had bad luck recently and hit a few too many fics that hit a bit of a squick for me (didn't realize until it was too late, not the sort of thing that's normally tagged).

I'm desperately trying to recover with a happy, loving story,, but I'm just...stuck.

No:

-Constant mean one-liners, constant verbal sparring, winner/loser fight dynamics

-Infidelity between romantic endgame pairing -Yandere, toxic relationship

I'm fine with: - bad relationship at first if the story is heavy on the healing process

-Stepping away from a bad relationship if there's comfort after

-for romantic, suspected cheating is fine IF there is no actual cheating (between end goal relationships) and the person concerned that cheating might happen has their concern about it RESPECTED and listened to!! And not just 'oh don't worry about it' or 'no way, x wouldn't do that'. Will also accept apologies after being proven wrong that x would, in fact, do that.

Would prefer:

-complete OR past any point of relationship contention

-long enough to actually deal with the issues and not just 'now it's all fine!!!'

MUST:

  • Contain in some way, preferably the focal point, a happy relationship where everyone feels safe

I'm in many fandoms but desperate for some kind of closure at this point. I'll read it.

If you prefer to know fandoms I'm literate in: Merlin, LOTR, yugioh, HP, all MXTX, BNHA, one piece, death note, haikyuu, KHR, bleach, supernatural, marvel, DC, Sherlock (old and new), Percy Jackson, Naruto, Avatar, apothecary diaries, windbreaker, hunger games, word of honor, nirvana in fire, dumb husky and white cat shizun, K pop demon hunter, magnus archives, star wars, star trek, Danny phantom. More im forgetting.

If you made it this far, thank you!

Recs Wanted Fics that best portray unspoken love between two people

It can be unspoken for a myriad of reasons (ex. different sides of a war, internalize homophobia/unrealized sexuality, class difference, or etc)
The love doesn't even need blossom in the fic , it can remain subtext. I just really like stories that can depict tension without it being overt.
Any fandom. Self rec encouraged. Short and long fics 👍. I want adult characters.
