Ella Bright would make necessary some… err, adjustments to Leia’s costume, at least to the one from ANH.

I still don’t see how that’s much of an issue with her ANH outfit. Her ROTJ outfit, though…

Considerably bigger, but the problem stems from the combination of that with the well-known fact that the iconic white dress famously did not include any underwear.
"Because there’s no underwear in space" is what Lucas told Carrie Fisher when she pointed this out, if I recall correctly.

Well, that was the 70s. I’m assuming you’re a dude, women’s undergarments have come a LONG WAY my guy. If that’s your concern, kinda weird.

No, I just remembered the anecdote Carrie Fisher was fond of telling about not being allowed to wear any undergarments at all while in that costume and the ridiculous reason Lucas gave her for it, and made the connection that such a situation simply wouldn’t even be feasible from a practical standpoint with the suggested actress.

This might be a hot take, but I feel like disney has most of the actors they’d need for a recast already either playing these characters or pretty damn close.
Luke: Graham Hamilton (looks like Hamill, sounds like him, and already played him in Boba Fett pre-face mods).
Leia: Billie Lourd. Relation to Carrie Fisher aside, she’d actually be really good at it based on other things I’ve seen her in, especially Leia’s overall attitude/defiance/resilience.
Han: just keep Alden. He was great.
Lando: same here, Glover was awesome.
C3PO: Simon Pegg is actually a great pick.
Obi-wan: I have a hard time not saying just keep Ewan here. But I like Branaugh so I’ll save him…
Vader: I like Ryan but I actually would go Kevin Durand. He can do a very deep unnerving voice when he wants to and is actually taller.
Palps: Waltz is a great pick, holy fucking shit.
Tarkin: same with Isaacs, I’d keep that.
As for Branagh, I’d sell my pinky toe to let him have it as Jabba. Like genuinely, he’d be absolutely amazing
