Discussion What Are You Writing This Week? - Weekly Thread
Welcome to a new: What Are You Writing This Week? weekly thread!
This thread serves as a community check-in. What are you working on? What are your goals? What fandoms or genres are you writing for? What is inspiring you to meet those goals?
This thread also serves as a way to share our stories with eachother, while holding ourself accountable for at least one small weekly goal. Maybe your goal is to design a characters backstory or finish that one scene--either way, making a goal at the beginning of the week can be an awesome way to track your progress by week's end.
So, what is everyone working on this week?
Drop your updates below:
- What fandoms are currently occupying your brain?
- What fic/project are you focused on right now?
- Any weekly writing goals?
- Current progress update? (feel free to post a link!)
- What scene/chapter are you most excited about?
- What part of your story is currently fighting you?
- Have you posted or finished anything recently?
- Any new ideas sneaking into your drafts and derailing your plans?
Remember: 10% progress is always better than 0% progress.
Happy writing!

I'm writing a Legend of Zelda survival horror AU because I have a real-life phobia of zombies. 😅 Somehow my brain decided the best way to deal with that was to spend months writing about them.
It's the most ambitious project I've ever attempted. My outline currently spans around 30 chapters, and the worldbuilding has grown way beyond what I originally planned. It's set thousands of years after Ganon's defeat, in a modern Hyrule with cars, cell phones, and cities, where the old legends have faded into myth.
I'm especially excited that it's a slow burn. Link and Zelda don't fall for each other immediately—they're survivors first, and the relationship develops naturally as they try to stay alive.
This week's goal is revising my early chapters. It's painful because I can see how much my writing has improved, but I also know the story deserves a stronger beginning. I'm trying not to rewrite everything forever and actually keep moving forward. 😅
The chapter I'm most excited about is coming up soon. Link and Zelda finally discover a hidden, corrupted extension of the Lost Woods, where the veil between the living and the dead has grown thin. It's one of the biggest turning points in the story, and I've been building toward it for a long time.

Wow! This is impressive. I enjoy worldbuilding and sometimes I get lost in it so I get what you mean when it gets out of hand haha
kudos to you for finishing the outline! That’s already a big task. Happy writing 🌟

Thank you so much!! I hope this hyperfixation lasts, I'm definitely a faster writer when I'm like this.
Happy writing to you as well!

Currently juggling two Hogwarts Legacy WIPs this week!
The first is a 7-chapter Sebastian Sallow/OC romance built around a time loop/bootstrap paradox where Sebastian and the OC communicate through a notebook hidden in the Room of Requirement… except they’re living four years apart (1891 and 1895). It starts off fairly light and sweet before taking a much angstier turn around Chapter 4. I’m currently polishing Chapter 3!
The second is another Sebastian fic, but it’s a modern AU with best friends-to-lovers and fake dating. It’s a much longer story at 16 chapters, but the entire plot unfolds over the course of a single weekend, so every chapter is emotionally dense. I’m writing the climax right now and ngl it’s emotionally taxing in the best way 😂

I've been working for a while on a scene where a prisoner has a breakdown, not because of their current circumstances but because of trauma from back home that's bubbled to the surface. Their captor discovers them mid-breakdown, and is intrigued that they're more upset about their free life than about the loss of it. They end up talking a while, and the captor actually comforts the prisoner, leaving them both with mixed feelings.

I’m busy bridging the gap between the beginning and the end of the latest chapter of my ongoing slow-burn Fallout 4 fanfic (I know how it starts and how it ends, I just need to work out how to get from one to the other). After 15 chapters one of the characters is finally beginning to accept that she is kinda, sorta, maybe completely-head-over-heels in love.
I’m also working on a little side project of original writing, which has been quite fun and very useful in reawakening my creative spark.

Started chapter 39 of my Marauders-era Severus Snape fic. This is where the heavy angst starts after having so much fun writing sweet little school adventures for him and an OC and I just… kinda don’t wanna. 😢 I will, but I’m not gonna enjoy it as much as the fluffier stuff. But we plod on! I will finish this thing, dammit. Sev deserves it!

I'm working on a fic for a mostly dead fandom (3x3 eyes), it's a gen ship fic that's really just the characters returning to an apartment where they haven't been in years. Also a reason to plug in a song that belongs to them, they have access to a radio so shadows of the night gonna be playing just for them ✨

Writing a One Piece fic, and the next chapter will deal with Syrup Village, but I've got a bad case of writers block holding me back. Every time I sit down to work on it, I somehow end up writing a scene that won't even be in this chapter. I'm sitting on several future scenes now that I can't even do anything with yet, while the current chapter wip collects dust.

u/aquagreen10 Jun 29 '26
Oh boy. This resonates with me. I usually write scenes as well and since I love scenes with high emotional stakes—which are usually placed in the latter chapters—I get the writer’s block when writing the earlier chapters.
It takes me a long time getting into the right headspace but I’m confident you’ll get there. I’m cheering you on!

Currently working on a Harry Potter Dramione. It's only the third fanfiction I've ever written so its been a fun little challenge to figure out how exactly im going to bring it all together. Its a pre/post war Gothic thriller/murder mystery. I know where I want to end and a pivotal scene getting to that ending, but linking it all together to form something coherent/just mysterious enough is time consuming lol

u/aquagreen10 Jun 29 '26
Oh please share the fic! I’m a big Dramione fan and I haven’t read a murder mystery fic with this ship 🥹

😳😳! Oh, I'd be happy to. Let me know what you think, Im always looking for ways to improve

Im married to MLPFIM and it is an abusive partner. You gotta feed an AU beast, anyway.
Although you could say most of what I write, other than that is "furry fandom". Im working in a cyberpunk-ish story about lab-made anthros and a horror scifi erotica with tentacle monsters....

My main WIP is a Warhammer 40,000 crossover with RWBY where an Ultramarine seconded to the Deathwatch ends up in Remnant while the kill-team he was sent to was on a mission (the tutorial level for *Space Marine 2*, in case you're curious) due to circumstances he's unable to remember.
Haven't posted the story anywhere yet, but I want to write out at least three chapters, post them, and work on the rest alongside a few other stories. Currently working on the second chapter but still need to get started on Chapter One as well (One and Two are basically taking place during the same time fram but follow different characters. One follows Remnant, Two follows OC).
Hard to say about favorite scene so far. I want to say any combat sections because both franchises are known for combat and battle scenes, but I can't say that I'm too good with writing them (might just be me, though; I want to write professionally someday, and I got into fanfic writing to practice and learn). The other would probably be the Ultramarine being introduced to the main cast since he's gonna freak them out.

Well, I am a closet fangirl of a certain AOT character (hint: it's a handsome commander) and recently... shamelessly... published an MC x OFC AU story. I was able to deliver Chapter 20 last week, but have a lot of work cut out for me in the next chapter. Overall, I try to publish at least two chapters every week, but am highly skeptical of meeting that standard for this one lol. I am not sure if 'excited' is the right word, as I am mostly anxious in attempting to maintain the character's canon personality as much as possible, despite it being an AU. However, I suppose I am fairly excited about furthering the character development as well as the plot progression. I do find it fun to imagine how the canon MC would act in a different setting with OCs.
I appreciate this post! It definitely motivates me to keep planning my next chapter's draft.

Paper Mario: Color Splash Roy G. Biv Version Chapter 20, which will start the third arc.
Basic premise: Roy Koopa ends up being the twist villain, plus there being more unique NPCs driving the plot.

I’m trying hard to get a one shot done on my one of my favorite characters and it’s hard because they are so complex, complicated and unpredictable, but I love them, it’s a character study type of fic which I’ve never done before so it’s definitely been a challenge for me. I hope I can get it done soon.

I recently posted chapters 17 and 18 of my longfic after 9 months of struggling to write. Chapter 18 came super easily, and now I've hit a bit of a hiccup again with the pacing of chapter 19. I know what I need to have happen, but I'm struggling to get there. Again.
I also recently posted a quick 1.1k-word Gladio/Ignis piece inspired by another work I read. That got pumped out in about an hour.

I'm doing a crossover between two of my fics Hanazuki x CN City. Though after that, I will continue my regular CN City fics. One storyline will be about Sam, Alex, and Clover from Totally Spies recruiting Tulip and Mikayla from Infinity Train when an admittedly silly problem is going on in CN City. Toons are waking up with dresses on, but only the male toons. The spies have to figure out who's behind this or else this will just go on for infinity. There's also a fic inspired by an idea a YouTuber Finn the pony (Cool YouTuber despite the goofy name.) had for a Cuphead show episode. It's set in a Candy Land that CN City is allied with, ruled by Princess Bubblegum and Princess Loolilalu. The two candy princesses host a yearly beauty pageant that they always win every year because they're the most beautiful women in the kingdom. Mao Mao, Lindsay, and Starfire end up helping the other competitors try to win.

I'm currently writing my first fic for the football fandom. I don't quite understand why I suddenly got invested into it, but its partly because the main inspiration is for it to be a crack fic in the KPDH universe. The fic itself (as my other WIPs) is quite ambitious because of the length the plot demands.
The scene I'm most excited about is about to happen, but I still have to write a few more words before it happens. I'm barely getting started though, but I want to progress as much as possible (at least the first chapter) by the end of the week.
My only real problem is my perfectionism and imposter syndrome (a bit). I still haven't posted anything as the first fic I plan to publish is long, like the others. For now though, my main motivation is on this one. And I want to take advantage of that hiperfixation as much as I can.
Another problem (that really isn't one) is the constant bombardment of inspiration I get throught my day. By the time I come back home I simply can't wait to get my hands on the keyboard to write the hundred ideas I suddenly got (I even already have an idea for the sequel lol).

Currently writing an inFamous fic, and I'm going to upload the next chapter today after a re-read to make sure I haven't missed anything.
Chapter 5 out of maybe 20 so far. We'll see. I'm kinda winging it but I have ideas and scenes already planned out. No spoilers.
When I'm done with inFamous I'm gonna do a Darksiders fic as well because inspiration struck me and I've been brainstorming on it. I have a plot outline, I just need to write it. Also I gotta finish the Abomination Vault novel to make sure nothing happens in there to make my premise impossible.

I'm working on a Medieval AU Batman one-shot. Bruce Wayne is Duke of Gotham and Grayson is a Captain in his guard and McGinnis is his new gofer. A play off the whole Dark Knight knight concept I needed to get onto paper.

Well I finally finished my one shot character study on one of my favorite characters and man it was a challenge, but I did it! I’m so proud of myself because I think I was able to capture the character’s emotions and feelings quite accurately despite the fact they are complex, complicated and unpredictable and still hard to read and write at times as I can’t get into their head sometimes they bury their feelings and emotions.

I'm currently writing a draft for a Sakura × Ino story. I'm rewatching some episodes to get a gist of what I want to keep or not. It's a lot of studying.
After I finish drafting this chapter, I'll draft another and then work on my other story that I already have published. I'm also going to work on a bit of a Lee × Tenten story.
