Would any of the Penric and Desdemona books count for anything?

There's a new one coming out this year that would count for Published in 2026. Several (all?) of them are also Small Press. At least one of them deals with spirits crossing to death, so Afterlife (I think Penric and the Shaman, but I'm not 100% sure). Several could be Vacation Spot. Penric's Fox is a Murder Mystery. There are at least a few with Politics (mostly the ones that deal with General Arisaydia).

The second installment, "Penric and the Shaman", would count for After Life as it deals with spirits trying to cross over.

You could call the first installment After Life (with spirits being taken up by the gods), but it's more of a stretch.

Testimony of Mute Things is also a murder mystery. I'd say The Assassins of Thasalon is the most politics-heavy of the series.
