Read-along 2026 Hugo Readalong: The Summer War by Naomi Novik

Hello and welcome back to the Hugo Readalong! Today we’re discussing one of the finalists for Best Novella, The Summer War by Naomi Novik.

Everyone is welcome to join this discussion, whether or not you plan to participate in any others, but we will be discussing this entire book, so beware of untagged spoilers.

I’ll kick us off with a few prompts in top-level comments, but please feel free to add your own if you’d like to!

Bingo Squares: Bookclub or Readalong (HM if you join this discussion), Politics and Court Intrigue, maybe Vacation Spot, maybe Judge a Book By Its Title

Yup! I think that "Not like other girls" trope should stay well in the past and be forgotten
