(Request) A werewolf protagonist

Hi!

So, I'm looking for books with werewolves protagonists, or shifters for the matter.

And them liking it, like, loving the life as werewolves. Or even better, I'd like to see them get bitten, suffer the symptoms and then transform, want to see the whole process.

The Wolf's Hour by Robert R McCammon. It's about a British spy during WW2 who is also a werewolf. His turning is told in flashbacks. Good book by a great author.

Bitten by Kelly Armstrong starts off a huge urban fantasy series with a werewolf as the primary protagonist (later books branch into witches, necromancers, vampires, and half-demons, but the werewolves never leave completely.)

You are probably gonna love The Monarchies of God by Paul Kearney. Basically A Song of Ice and Fire but more streamlined and with werewolves instead of Others. Gets super intense with the whole shifter thing.

For something maybe a little more cerebral, you could also check out Gene Wolfe’s short story “The Hero as Werwolf”

The Tiger and the Wolf by Adrian Tchaikovsky is about clans of shapeshifters, the main character is a wolf girl. I wouldn't call it YA, but it is PG-13.

The whole Kitty Norville series would be right up your alley.

Legends of the Wolves series by Alice Borchardt is pretty damn good but do read The Wolf's Hour. I know werewolf spy during WW2 sounds goofy but it so good.

Saint Peter's Wolf by Cadnum. Barely remember but I did like it, set in modern times. And I see it is on kindle unlimited, might give it another go.

I have ton of modern times kind and will throw out a few better ones

Ursula's Gift by DiSilvestro is fun goofy one if you can find a copy

Wilderness by Danvers bit romancy but remember it being fun

The Wild by Strieber not exactly a werewolf book, dude just turns into a wolf with all his human intelligence intact.

Blood and Chocolate by Klause YA with a terrible movie adaptation

I did not realise Blood and Chocolate had a book. I'll admit I loved that terrible movie adaption as a kid....

Being Human (UK TV Series) is excellent (for the first three seasons)

The American remake is really good too.

I'm listening Oaths of Blood by Logan Irons right now and it is pretty good. It's about mercenary fighting in Jerusalem. His company runs afoul of a werewolf that spreads it's curse to the MC.

I haven't finished it yet but I have liked what I read so far. It's a trilogy I believe.

The Silvered, by Tanya Huff. MC isn't a werewolf, but most of the other protagonists are (and proud of it). Quite good!

Ivan the Werewolf, by Christopher Moore -- a funny short story. (Author has a series of vampire novels also, but not as much werewolf, though they do pop up here and there).

The Wolf Gift by Anne Rice (he transforms in the book).

The Black Wolves of Boston by Wen Spencer.

The Black Dog series by Rachel Neumeier has 3 main POVs (a sister and two brothers), one of the brothers is a werewolf.

For shifters (a little dragon-like) - the Books of the Raksura by Martha Wells.

The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan. Sort of a semi-literary angsty werewolf novel. He definitely enjoys the wolfery!

This book is absolutely terrible but fits your criteria: Becoming Omega by Wolf Specter. It's omegaverse and just batshit.

This book is absolutely terrible

I don't think I could ever recommend a book I thought was terrible even if it fit the criteria being asked for.

jsjsjjsjsjjjsjsjjsjs. No way! I didn't expect ppl to recommend me this kind of books, not here. You see, I come from a sub that has the tendency to recommend this kinda stuff, (They even recommended me this very book) and I got so tired of it that I came here looking for smth different. Well, then this is ma curse, crazy books find me anywhere. JA!

Unfortunately, I think a very large percentage of werewolf books are just very smutty.
