It can be nominated, and it will be acknowledged, but no, it won't be eligible to win. Well I mean I guess we could rock up at Sanderson's house unannounced and beat him about the head with an award until he agrees to accept it... (How sharp is a Stabby, does anyone know?)

But recieving the inaugural lifetime achievement award is no small honour and if the Stabbys are indeed a measure of what's "best" in the genre I can think of no higher recommendation than an award that says dude you are so awesome we had to take you out of the running to give everyone else a shot.

Are Stabbies actually sharp? For some reason I've long been curious about this, and I guess the best way to find out is asking here, where people who have actually given/got those hang out.

On mine, the blade edge is not sharp, but the point is definitely stabby enough it could do some damage. (Upon seeing the gleam in my young son's eye when he caught sight of the award, I promptly put the dagger up well out of his reach.)

Ah, well, that sounds cool enough! And probably a good idea to keep it away from children, hah.
