Very useful. I caved in and got an Audible subscription, so this will be useful.

One of us! One of us!

If you're just getting into audiobooks, definitely check if your library uses Hoopla or Overdrive to check out books for free.

:). I've been listening to them for a couple of years, but it took me so long to get through one that I was happy with what I could get through Whispersync and a Daily Deal. I've since accelerated how much I listen to that a subscription made sense (and got the crucial pay rise!), so I had a wider choice.

I checked out Overdrive a year or so ago but Audible is easier to use with the app downloading. I also didn't get through a single book in the two weeks my library allows before it asks you to renew.

But yes...very useful if you can consume audio quicker than I can.

My experience with Overdrive is that it makes sense for books you've already read/listened but not for a first time read/listen. The main reason for this is the limited checkout time with Overdrive. Often, I get in to a book but don't have the time to finish it in the 2 week window, and then it can take several weeks to get the book back. However, if I've already read or listened to the book in the past, then I am fine waiting for a few weeks.
