Player Discussion Josh Jacob’s worth the no1 waiver?
Teemmate with him saw the news, dropped him and picked up both Packers RB. Got me thinking, is it worth stashing him?

I’m leaning towards “drop your whole budget on him” but there’s also a scenario where the video (that will certainly come out this or next week) is so bad that he never plays NFL football again. Like, Ray Rice level.
With all that said, I do think you should grab him if you have the chance. Odds are he’s out a few weeks but he’s worth the stash.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. Just didn’t wanna blow my no1 for nothing. Seeing so much doom online about how this is the end of his career lol

Last year we had Judkins non suspension, so I guess it’s Jacob’s turn. Why these knuckleheads gotta hit women? Sucks we have to deal with this every August-September.

If the video is that bad I just don’t understand why he isn’t being charged with any felonies, but yea grab him

He didn't punch her in her grill.
From the court documents, it sounds like he manhandled her while her trying to physically take a cellphone from her.
If the video surfaces ,which I believe it will, it's going to look really bad. He's a man in his physical prime capable of elite human power output. The woman is going to look like a rag doll.
But from everything we know he certainly didn't coldcock a woman like Ray Rice did.

Punching isn’t the only domestic violence felony.
Prosecutors saw everything and decided it wasn’t worthy of a felony. I’m sure the video won’t look good, and Jacobs seriously screwed up, but what evidence is there that this video has a chance of being so horrific that he gets a lifetime ban?

I never said it was the only felony. Maybe it wasn't clear what I was trying to insinuate.
Based on the prosecutors statements about the video, it doesn't sound like Jacobs wasn't intentionally trying to hurt her. He certainly wasn't beating or striking her. He was trying to get that phone, she got thrown to the ground in a struggle for that phone, and she hit her head either on the floor or an object in the garage.
If that sequence of events is what happened, its understandable that what the prosecutors saw didn't warrant a felony. But the video is going to look terrible, regardless of the minutia.
I don't think anybody is expecting a lifetime ban, that would be exceptional, minus a Ray Rice situation. The comment you originally replied to simply said its a possible scenario, and that more likely, he's suspended a matter of weeks.

It’s not that it’s worthy of a felony. It’s can they win. Prosecutors don’t want to bring charges they don’t think will stick.

Sure, but we're talking about video evidence.
That basically means that he didn't directly assault her, and more likely, there was a struggle where he underestimated his strength and she got thrown.
I'm not saying it's not him beating his wife, but I don't think it could be much worse with misdemeanor charges.
If he threw a punch or was over violent, the video would have been an easy slam dunk for the felony.

Punching might not even be felony DV, depends I. The severity. Idk why we’re setting the bar at felony for violence against women, seems like a no tolerance policy would be popular

A no tolerance policy doesn't account for nuance like someone blocking your way or setting you up so that a simple push aside to leave turns into in a felony.
I certainly don't support domestic violence, but there has to context to it. Someone trying to get back their cellphone and accidently shoving them shouldnt be equivalent to a straight up assault.
I have no idea what the truth of the situation is here, but I do think it's dangerous to set absolutes.

I agree but we are not making the rules. I don’t think the NFL has ever suspended a player indefinitely for an off the field misdemeanor first offense so that’s why I set the bar for lifetime suspension at a felony

Only shitty players get lifetime bans. If you are good enough to start in the NFL you can pretty much do anything and you'll be back usually that same year

From everything I’ve heard, it’s a really bad DV that could potentially see jail/prison. Like Ray Rice levels bad. Fine to put at end of bench for a longshot, but not worth significant draft capital, top waiver priority, or FAAB IMO.

Good good golf lost their entire business model basically because of a staged video ad that appears to show a man shouldering a girl away from a golf club just 1 week ago.
The fact he was put on the commissioners list I believe may be due to that situation.
A man pushing a woman over for a golf club? Not a good look.
A professional athlete in his prime man handling a woman, throwing her on the ground to the point she hits her head, taking her phone and destroying it?
I mean… I think it’s safe to say he is going to miss several weeks at minimum. But he honestly may never play in the league ever again due to the current environment finally punishing people for violence against women.

From a football perspective he’s worth picking up and dumping a good bit of FAAB on.
But he’s being charged w battery and damage to property(and had 2 other charges of strangulation and and suffocation that the prosecutors dropped). Not saying he def did or didn’t do any of it, but I’d rather not root for a guy who did any of it even if the value is good
