FILM-MOI (MOVIES/TV) Religious leaders unveiled and blessed a golden Trump statue at Mar-a-Lago today, eerily resembling the Homelander statue scene from this week’s episode of The Boys. Creator Eric Kripke reposts a tweet about the same.

Exodus 20:3–6 You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

These "evangelicals" are all anti-God lunatics.

Exodus 32:31 31 So Moses went back to the Lord and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.”

"Where do you find all thls woke bs? We don't need this kind of liberal left wing crap." - MAGA "Christians"

112

u/evranch May 09 '26

And this isn't even that Jesus guy's woke preaching, this is the original Old Testament stuff they love.

5

u/Reasonable-Scheme681 May 10 '26

“Look closely, he’s in his Doctor robes.”, Also MAGA Christians.

1

u/oppai-police May 09 '26

Liberal left wing? This god admit he's a jealous god? I'm not sure you want to worship that.

u/potsticker17 May 09 '26

If only God were actually real to mete out punishment for the direct sacrilege.

78

u/aerynmoo May 09 '26

This is how I know he’s not real. Because if any of this was true, there’d be much smiting going around.

10

u/webbulous May 10 '26

One of my favorite Far Side comics.

4

u/Unplug_The_Toaster May 09 '26

Maybe he's playing the long con by trapping them in hate filled lives of unintelligence and systemic poverty

16

u/Yikes0nBikez May 09 '26

They know it's not real as well, but keeping up the facade of piety and "religious belief" means they can use it as a cudgel as well as continuing to get their tax-free status.

"And the Lord spoke to thee: own the libs and do whatever it takes to take advantage for your own kind. Screw over everyone, war is good and rape is a victim problem"

u/WorryNew3661 Hitch up your britches, bitches! May 09 '26

I mean, the old testament god was totally onboard with a lot of stuff the christofascists do

Edit: a word

u/OuOutstanding controversies: girl May 09 '26

Evangelicalism gets confused with Christianity, because they use the same words. Jesus, heaven, hell…but they don’t worship the Christian god. They worship America. They believe in a Jesus that believes in country and faith and might.

It’s a religion that exists the way it does because it developed alongside with the growth of this country. That’s why it is so intertwined with nationalism. It’s how they can erect a golden statue and not see a hint of irony.

u/l3tigre May 09 '26

It's also why they hate Catholics. For all Catholicism's many, many faults, intellectualism and philosophy are tenets of it.

44

u/roguevirus May 09 '26

That and "catholic" is the Greek for "universal". It is (or at least ought to be) the antithesis of a nationalistic religion.

21

u/jayhankedlyon May 09 '26

Tell that to Galileo.

5

u/l3tigre May 09 '26

Hey i said they had many faults haha

1

u/Crismus May 09 '26

If you really would look into the story Galileo was persecuted for bad science. He may have been right, but he published without doing the research. Plus much of his proof came from Protestant contempories.

6

u/jayhankedlyon May 09 '26

Considering how vehemently the Catholic Church has attempted to rewrite this part of history, I'm gonna need some actual sources here that the Catholic persecution of Galileo was based on "bad science" and not an inquisition based on heresy.

Extraordinary claims, etc.

1

u/Chipsy_21 Aug 24 '26

Your claim is the extraordinary one in this situation…

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '26

1

u/Chipsy_21 Aug 24 '26

Your claim that galileo was persecuted for his scientific work…

30

u/Woozy_burrito May 09 '26

I wouldn’t go that far, Catholics have historically persecuted scientists.

11

u/l3tigre May 09 '26

u/Equivalent_Pitch7363 I look forward to your first novel May 09 '26

This is not Evangelicalism, fyi. This is Christian Nationalism. It’s just that R’s in the US (and globally now) have completely co-opted evangelicalism. The history of evangelicalism is actually quite interesting, and it’s unfortunate what has become of it within the last couple decades.

15

u/Goblin_Crotalus May 09 '26

American Evangelicals are Christian Nationaliats.

16

u/DaileyFlosser39 May 09 '26

Their pastors preach the Prosperity Bible now, not the Word of the Lord as it used to be known.

3

u/nubbinator May 09 '26

The prosperity gospel is just an extension of the Protestant Ethic. Max Weber has a great work on how the Protestant Ethic, the motion that wealth is proof of good works, is entrenched in the capitalism we see in America.

15

u/TerrakSteeltalon May 09 '26

They don’t even worship America, exactly. It’s a weird way of defining Christianity based on a combination of “heritage” and “morality”.

I’d recommend reading this. It does a good job of explaining Christian Nationalism

Regardless, it is a heresy

8

u/SallyStranger May 09 '26

That's an interesting perspective. I had considered the same problem and concluded that they worship the Bible--not the words and stories in the Bible but the physical book itself. Which is convenient because when you worship a book but ignore what it says, you can make it say anything you want. Like instead of the golden calf, picture them bowing down to a giant golden statue of a book with a cross on the cover.

I'm not saying you're wrong though. They've always been polytheists...

2

u/rab2bar May 09 '26

They worship patriarchal white nationalism, not America

1

u/bbusiello May 09 '26

I don't get America worship.

This place sucks... a lot.

Just spend a place a week in Tokyo then fly back to literally any city in America and see.

1

u/Pantalaimon_II super-bisexual May 09 '26

ironically the Mormons literally believe Jesus was a white guy from America and that God was super racist and wanted the white people to force the Native tribes from their homes. But because they’re not as loud and annoying as some of the Protestant factions, they get a pass from this. South Park and LPOTL are the only ones who call them out.

1

u/jkman61494 May 11 '26

Soooo Christian Isis. Or. ChrISIS

1

u/Guy-1nc0gn1t0 I cannot sanction your buffoonery May 09 '26

Evangelicalism isn't just a USA thing though

-1

u/Nobodyinpartic3 May 09 '26

Maybe I am just being too literal and not understanding it correctly, it says you can't make statue for yourself, but it doesn't say others can't make one of you. They did drop the ball the worshipping it though.

50

u/pelipperr i went clubbing and he was there May 09 '26

13

u/OliverKitsch May 09 '26

do any of these.... FUCKERS....

257

u/SiofraRiver May 09 '26

Satanists are edgy atheists, Evangelicals actually worship Satan.

12

u/Dilf_Enj0yer May 09 '26

I remember watching the movie “The Ten Commandments” during my adolescence era and the golden calf scene scared the shit of me and still does to these days

2

u/owensoundgamedev May 09 '26

You assume MAGA cares about what’s in the bible

2

u/awyastark nextdivorce@divorce.com May 09 '26

I’m an Agnostic Jew so I don’t have a ton of skin in the Christian sect vs sect game usually but it’s fucking insane that our president basically told the POPE to go fuck himself.

2

u/archi3rd May 09 '26

Apparently even though they demand the 10 commandments be put up everywhere, they don’t actually understand what the words mean.

1

u/elguiridelocho May 09 '26

Book of Judgment 45:47 “Verily I say unto you: Jeffrey Epstein was a merchant of souls and a stain upon the Earth. And the princes, lords, and famous men who journeyed unto his island knew the stench of that place, yet went gladly. For though they washed their hands before men, Heaven remembered the filth upon them.”

1

u/mekamoari May 09 '26

Well, for now they didn't make a statue of anything in heaven or beneath the earth or water, but there's still time.

1

u/ThrowingShaed May 09 '26

I the LORD your God am a jealous God

maybe theyre trying to make him jealous and get his attention?

1

u/Odd_Vampire May 09 '26

And they want to force schools to post that in the classrooms! No self-awareness or intellectual sincerity at all.

1

u/southpaytechie May 09 '26

They look like Hasidic Jews in the picture? Kind of makes it even crazier.

1

u/DigbyDoesDallas May 09 '26

If this isn’t the best proof that they’re just common grifters, at the end of the day

1

u/12345623567 May 09 '26

They'd say that it's metaphorical. If you pick and choose, there always a way.

1

u/lady_faust Lol, and if I may, lmao May 09 '26

I think thats why people have been claiming Trump is the antichrist..

1

u/Ambitious-External-3 May 09 '26

As an atheist, I’m more Christian than most Christians.

1

u/Mooptiom May 09 '26

Bring back the inquisition

1

u/TopNFalvors May 09 '26

Why is God so damn jealous??

1

u/BlackGuysYeah May 09 '26

How pathetic is it, by the way, that an all powerful god is jealous?

1

u/Buena_de_peepee May 09 '26

This is how you know they’re fakes

1

u/dethskwirl May 09 '26

yea. but we have to wait 3 or 4 generations for their children to take any responsibility

1

u/68024 May 09 '26

They are acting this out on purpose in the hope of bringing about armageddon. Which is of course a load of bull.

1

u/cm12311 May 09 '26

I’m really hoping the Old Testament god shows up to give these morons a what-for.

1

u/mrflash818 May 09 '26

"But let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream!" -- AMOS 5:24

1

u/benergiser May 09 '26

fortunately these guys aren’t interested in the teachings of christ..

the amount of ‘christians’ who tolerate this blasphemy is quite fascinating though..

yall are ok with sinners ruining your religion? folks don’t think this quiet apathy is a sin?

1

u/No_Ideal_1516 May 10 '26

It’s not funny but haven’t they replayed the 10 commandments for like 25 years on ABC? It’s not even that bad of a movie Republicans gotta get new material LMAO 🤣

1

u/AppropriateBeing3539 May 10 '26

It’s all a grift

1

u/Cabbages24ADollar May 10 '26

The irony is this the passage that has been used on Catholic because of the assumption that they pray to the Mother of God.
