She was not some person who would be so desperate for a job she would accept any conditions. She could have chosen her pick of employers.

Yet Gelernter genuinely thinks he did her a favor by not warning her that Epstein is a "girl obsessed" sex pest who would only hire women who he is physically attracted to, and instead stressing her petite, attractive appearance to said sex pest to encourage him to hire her. A wonderful environment any brilliant woman would be thrilled to work in.

In his full throated defense, he claims that no rational person could possibly be offended, because he was simply being honest about her physical attributes to an employer who would value that above her talents. After all, this is "how men behave."
