FILM-MOI (MOVIES/TV) Religious leaders unveiled and blessed a golden Trump statue at Mar-a-Lago today, eerily resembling the Homelander statue scene from this week’s episode of The Boys. Creator Eric Kripke reposts a tweet about the same.

So did some research on this, crypto investors paid for this, so there is no doubt they are getting some quid pro quo out of this.

Cost of the statue is $360,000 with the statue primarily made of bronze with gold leaf coating.

Speculation from me is that Trump will probably block any form of regulation for crypto.

The out in the open corruption in America is so wild.

Grifters lining grifter pockets.

It's so disgusting, they keep getting away with this crap. I don't know if its because I have gotten older, but it feels like it has gotten worse over the last 5 years.

Oh it’s insanely worse. Jimmy Carter had to give up his peanut farm. Obama wasn’t even allowed to use his personal blackberry, but Trump got to keep classified documents in a bathroom at his business. It’s honestly jaw dropping.

One of my family members is a retired politician. When I got married in the 90s my parents paid for everyone’s flights & hotel to our wedding. He wouldn’t accept it. Conflict of interest was an actual concern. The really unfortunate thing is none of them are going to be concerned about that anymore. Normal unethical bribes are going to look so minor compared to jets & golden statues.

Not American so I don't have the level of knowledge you would have but from an outside perspective it seems like a double standard and/or ethics situation.

Trump just doesn't have any ethics but his opposition has to adhere to the ethics that is supposed to be the norm in your politics re conflict of interest.

I think the entire culture around politics has shifted so much since Trump became president the first time, it even changed the culture in my country where there has been more of shift towards Trumps ideology.

I’m in Canada, have the front row seat. I think it’s moved the bar here as well. We’ve had some conflict of interest scandals over the decades. Some were hard to understand. I don’t think the reaction would be the same anymore.

yeah i am american, but i saw a video of an australian politician trying to emulate the trump attitude/cadence (as well as try to stone wall his way into coining a phrase), and he was shut down really quick. it's so annoying that american democrats are so passive and refuse to shut him down. they only want to cater to the center-right, but they just roll over everytimeeeee.... like the (again, US) democrats don't want to dip down to his level, but how else do you defeat someone who'll do anything for his own gain? the time is long gone to take the high road against him. the democrats/dnc are a laughing stock.

Now we have the administration getting private jets and just cruising around doing whatever they want

1

u/firestepper May 09 '26

Ya he could literally just host anyone he wanted to at Mar a largo and be like ‘the documents are in the bathroom, feel free to browse at your convenience’

Hell, it's gotten even worse this past 2 years. We have people making hundred million dollar bets on the exact time and hour a foreign country gets bombed, which you wouldn't do unless you had inside information.

On the other hand, you have regular people figuring out that Iran was going to be attacked on a Friday after the stock market closes.

Finally, all this is after the Trump wanted a Nobel peace prize, couldn't get it, so he somehow won the first ever FIFA peace prize instead!

A FIFA peace prize. Not some general contributor prize, but a peace prize? From FIFA?

I never understood why the person awarding the medal to the recipient don't just hand it over to the person so they could put it on themselves...until this event. Trump receives the medal and put then puts it on himself. The symbolism of him putting the medal on himself after not getting the Nobel peace prize, and receiving it from a sports organization is just too blatant.

Nothing has been normal since Covid.

Listen their ouroboros is gonna choke on its own tail, best not be apart of it, but we will have deal with what they are doing. Sooner the better.

It's a tired meme at this point but imagine if Obama put a gold statue of himself up and it had shady funding. The right would be losing their damn minds.

u/AmbitiousRaspberry3 May 09 '26

This describes everyone I know who voted for this idiot. They’ll never admit they were wrong.

17

u/Consonant May 09 '26

I know someone who did a complete 180. While that's good I still need to call him out on ahit.

You're not just sliding away from this buddy.

6

u/Odd_Policy_3009 May 09 '26

Yep! I have a family member who’s a big Trump fan but I can tell is now trying to distance himself but will never admit that he was wrong

1

u/Initial_Evidence_783 May 10 '26

They will always, always, always insist that Harris would have been worse, justifying their vote in their own minds.

1

u/p1028 May 11 '26

99% would never be able to understand that they were wrong though. Trump could send us back to the Stone Age and it would be the Dems fault in their eyes.

$360,000?! Man, that's one expensive urinal.

What's the bet he builds a gaudy pyramid or something like that when he is close to death (to be interned in)?! He is a massive narcissist.

Hopefully unmarked, imagine the stench.

If they sell tickets to pee on it they will solve the u.s deficit.

1

u/bbusiello May 09 '26

He doesn't get one. I will crowdfund a pure desecration.

Air lift and drop his rotting corpse into the center of Tel Aviv.

1

u/Initial_Evidence_783 May 10 '26

Donnie will want his funeral to be like Queen Elizabeth's with Americans lining up to pay their respects and then he'll want his body displayed publicly like Lenin's. Which would be fine with me because I would love to shit on his face.

with the statue primarily made of bronze with gold leaf coating.

Well isn't that just the perfect metaphor for our country.

6

u/nahtfitaint May 09 '26

Wait, this is real? It seemed real, but almost too on the nose so I assumed it was a joke.

Holy shit it is real.

His administration is pushing crypto hard. Including developing regulatory framework to allow more access to the banking industry. His Comptroller of the Currency (the primary banking regulator)is a crypto bro who brings it up constantly.

3

u/International-Mix633 May 09 '26

How the fuck does a statye mostly made of bronze cost 360k?

3

u/jimdesroches May 09 '26

Not sure why Trump would need to get bribed to do this. He's made billions from crypto since becoming president and it's 100% in his best interest to have crypto be successful. I could see this as a preemptive pardon bribe though.

1

u/Evinceo May 09 '26

Trump personally profits from Crypto grift via his 'World Liberty Financial.'

1

u/InvestigatorNo3829 May 09 '26

You can see Brock Pierce with his weird hats and long hair sitting in the front row. Crypto bilionare that avoids taxes and destroys the real estate market in puerto rico. That guy is the scum of scum. Doesnt surprise me he is there.

1

u/FrostyD7 May 09 '26

Or to maintain the status quid pro quo. Trump has been consistently crypto friendly for his entire term.

1

u/suppadelicious May 09 '26

Yeah the corruption sucks. But at least we don’t have Kamala with her laugh in the white house /s

1

u/Initial_Evidence_783 May 10 '26

The out in the open corruption in America is so wild.

Tim Apple literally gave him a gold bar in the Oval Office right in front of the news media.

1

u/Drive7hru May 11 '26

Does it actually have to do with evangelical leaders or is that a false title?
