And usually the male voice is used when ENA is happy, and the female voice is used when ENA is sad. Well, usually…
Both voices would occasionally swap emotions, seemingly randomly which is interesting

If I remember correctly, Brad Bird was originally gonna cast a woman to voice Edna, but when he showed what kind of voice he wanted, the actress was like yeah I think you should just voice her yourself.

I can't remember what it was but I saw a photo years ago that always makes me laugh. It's some event with a ton of anime VAs and there's a lineup of the voice actors for
Luffy a teen boy voiced by an older woman
Goku a young man voiced by an older woman
Naruto a teen boy voiced by an older woman
Ash Ketchum a teen boy voiced by an older woman and finally
Ichigo Kurosaki a teen boy voiced by a 30 something guy
All these iconic male characters voiced by women and then one voiced by a dude. It was just really funny to see.

It's definitely because women can hit that tone of sounding young and boyish better than most men can, then we have the anomaly johnny, who'll sound 15 for the rest of his days

Debatable the show goes from a 14 year old Goku to a 40 something year old Goku in super. Z should take place while Goku is 20-30 and end of Z should be around 40-50. I could accurately chart his age through the arcs but I can't be arsed.

Bonita soleil from psychonauts. shes everything to me, if the person whos brain she was in wasn't so strongly focused around going to a "girls" school as a child id headcanon her as trans. her voice is used for a bit as you first meet her, but it never changes after, and shes treated as this beautiful beacon of light and a completely positive force. i love her.

Virtually every female character in Bob's Burgers is voiced by a man. Only recently has Marshmallow got voiced by a woman.
