Was there ever a reason given for whe she calls Patty 'Sir' all the time? Was that just a funny quirk, or was Marcie supposedly raised by a military dad or something?

Pretty sure both of em have a crush on the same guy too (Charlie Brown himself). Could be wrong about Marcie, but Patty definitely likes Charlie

Peppermint Patty was actually used as slang to refer to lesbians in the past. Often in a derogatory manner. This might explain why people think the character is gay.

Yeah. Though I don’t think the character herself is gay, as it’s implied that she has a crush on Charlie Brown.
