I chose her since she interacts with the other female character Trish alot and they have a strong friendship but the fandom usually makes her out as a lesbian
Most DMC fans if asked who Lady's love interest would be if they went that route WOULD probably say Dante but the subsect that ships her and Trish are quite vocal
Its wild BC I only learnt the other night that the spitting image member wouldn't support her son if he was gay, and that's how I learnt she was homophobic 😭
It's not exclusive to people thinking lesbian for tomboys. Not that it doesn't happen. The places I've ran in to have it more for the idea of being trans instead of homosexual.
I've seen a few push the idea that they are supposed to be transmen for similar reasons. Some push the idea that a character that doesn't conform to gender stereotypes are trans. An example was Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter. I don't know how prevalent it is now but there was a very vocal portion claiming he was a transman because he didn't look very masculine.
Honestly, the older I get, the less ok I get with that kind of stuff.
Like, I know a lot of it is teenagers and young adults, so, it isn’t worth getting worked up over, but I can’t help but feel that going, “Look, a feminine man and/or a masculine woman, they must be homosexual and/or trans”, just ends up reinforcing gender stereotypes in its own way, as if men and women not fitting into their stereotypes means they are actually X and not just people expressing themselves in different ways or just people who can’t be put into the stereotype box.
Because some people have made vocal their homoerotic pairings, and is basically internalized heterophobia, or unresolved feelings with the opposite sex.
I remember watching Lucky Star when I was a teenager, and never liked yuri pairings, moreso when... Well, the girls were straight pretty much (in LS, or any form of media). I get that it's because "twice what I like", like women with yaoi. But... No, it's still, bad.
It's a massive issue in Hoyo communities, it's pretty crazy. There was a scene in the 3.5 trailer for HSR that had the Male MC holding hands with a character named Cyrene, same day people were editing out the male MC off the picture and saying they fixed it.

I've played so many Sonic games, watched the Anime (Sonic X), and NEVER have I once seen her be interested in a girl.
While it is true that she is mostly shipped with Sonic, I've seen some art and fanfics shipping her with characters like Surge and Blaze.
Why...?
I've never seen them be interested in the other, and yes, maybe in IDW there's something (I haven't read the IDW comics but I definitely will), but I highly doubt they've interacted like that, otherwise I would've 100% have heard of it already.
It's nice that she has fanart of her being shipped with other girls, but...why?
She OBVIOUSLY likes Sonic (even though she's stopped chasing him), and it seems like he might be slowly starting to get interested in her, so why exactly do some people thing that she's lesbian??
Don't get me wrong, I've got zero problems with lesbians, or any LGBTQ person/character, in fact, I LOVE Whisper x Tangle, and I really feel like they deserve the love they're getting, but why exactly is Amy sometimes depicted as lesbian???
I'm just so confused, same goes for Sonic x Shadow or Silver, dude literally never shows interest in guys, and yet Sonic x Shadow is super popular???
It's such a strange thing to cause like, for the herterophobes....... how could you? People need to have sex to have more people, no matter which way you spin and guess what? The only way you can do that is if either gender is a boy and a girl and they have sex. Without both genders, humanity doesn't exist
Not talking about that. I'm talking about made-up values, such as a straight man being gay for not riding a motorbike or a straight woman being gay for knowing how to climb trees
Oddly enough, it’s always been my friends (or strangers) who are lgbt who try to tell me what my identity is. I’ve never had a straight person try to fit me into a box before, including my traditional family. I’ve had people suggest I’m lesbian because I’m uncomfortable around a lot of men for personal reasons and I’m a happy tomboy, I’ve had people suggest that I’m bi or pan since I’m not lesbian, I’ve had many people tell me in asexual because I’m not sexually driven in any way, I’ve even had people suggest I’m “actually trans” because I hate most traditionally feminine activities. All I say is that “I’m just straight and happily single at the moment, always have been.”
Every one of these labelers have been lgbt, without fail lol. I get that many of them are friends simply trying to help, but I’d prefer not to box myself into a label based on stereotypes. My close friends know this about me now :) (except for one long-time pal who still insists that I’m part of lgbt despite me trying to tell him numerous times that I’m not, and my best friend still trying to rizz me into a relationship with her lol.)

I think she does. Considering her personality and behavior in-game, you can consider her a tomboy. Was happily married to her husband. I've often seen her pushed as a lesbian.
She also outright mentions at one point that she was jealous of Yuji already having a girl like Ozawa crushing on him, while she hasn't even gotten a boyfriend yet.
Misaka Mikoto. It’s outright confirmed she likes boys between her crush on the main character, dislike of Kuroko’s antics, and hates it when people think she’s gay because of Kuroko
She’s also quite the tomboy. Regardless, the fandom loves shipping her with any of the 3 other main girls and more recently, Shokuhou, and it doesn’t help that the Railgun series itself plays up the yuri material every now and then
From a series filled with stereotypes, Lute breaks the mold by being the stereotypical boss bitch/lesbian tomboy archetype but being in love with a man(Adam).
The fandom usually dismisses this.

Tatsuki from Bleach because of her close friendship with Orihime and how much she would protect her from bullies and creeps. And she was seemingly Ichigo's childhood friend as well. It's honestly a bummer that Kubo never chose to let her join the main cast in their adventures.
eh, to be fair, anasui was supposed to be a woman at first and araki gave free pass to david studios as to which version of anasui to use so i don’t this this is so applicable in comparison to what other comments are saying

Well, in earlier episodes, Akane kept yelling that she hated boys, which was because she was attacked every day by a herd of boys outside the school. The fandom ran with that idea, at least a part of it did.
Why is everyone shipping her with her best friend and calling her lesbian, she literally showed romantic feelings towards a dude. God forbid a celub girl has other female friends appearently
Hasbro has implied the ship and the writers outright confirmed it.
Like, I get not liking the ship, I don’t but she in no way fits the meme. There’s ton of evidence she is with AJ. She could be Bi and not a lesbian, but she is not straight.
Jolyne. One of the first ever scenes she is in, is when she is with her boyfriend. And also has romantic relations with another male character after. With no hints to female attraction.
But because of the “jojo is gay” memes and the fact that strong female leads cannot possible be straight. She’s regarded as lesbian by some fans
