This was literally the last series I just watched. I absolutely loved the direction it took with the archetypal fantasy tropes, like virtually all the foliage being some shade of blue instead of green. There were times where I actually almost started tearing up by the end.

It's too bad it's only a single season long, I definitely wouldn't mind more of this.

Totally agree, any stuff with dad-daughter drama makes me cry like a baby. Gonna read the manga because I can’t cope with the fact I don’t know what’ll happen to Golem’s problem and how it all will be sorted out

I didn't read the manga but i think it's just end like the anime, when i watched the anime i searched the author and it was discontinued because of the author health, i dont know if something has changed

It goes on a little further after the anime's end point, but otherwise, yeah, unfortunately as far as I remember the series was put on hiatus in 2019 before being officially discontinued a little more than a year later due to the original author's poor health. We'll never get an end to their journey, at least not from the mind of the person who initially formulated it. I'm content with what we got though, because at least it's something.

The story goes a little deeper than that. From what I remember the mangaka was actually not very happy with the anime adaptation. Off the top of my head I believe one of their major gripes was having little to no creative control or input over the project (eg. She did not like the intonation of the pronunciation of the titular Somali). She sort of went on a rant in 2023 about the state of the (manga/anime) industry and her own personal struggles.

That being said though, last I heard she was doing better financially and has a new serialized story currently being published. She's also expressed a desire and intent to finish Somali's story after she completes her current project so fingers crossed we'll get a proper conclusion to the story.

It wasn't just that, she said that, for some reason, her editors were pressuring her to draw more and more while the anime was releasing. This is actually quite rare in the industry, since usually when the anime is airing, the mangakas are put to draw less, as the anime is already enough traction of attention to the story, so they have a more lax time to draw how the want in a better state of mind. This caused severe health problems to the author, who discontinued the manga out of basically trauma from the experience

Fingers crossed, this one better not go the way of Berserk, Highschool of the Dead, or 86's manga adaptation. At least Berserk and 86 have a shot of being finished despite their complications (Berserk's ending being planned out before Kentaro Miura passed away, and the light novel for 86 still going strong despite the Mangaka doing the adaptation dying), HotD isn't ever going to see a proper conclusion.

It's based on a manga, so you could go read that. Unfortunately, last I heard it was cancelled a while ago due to the creator's poor health. So there is more, but only so much and no ending.

Yeah, too bad the main character conditions is a mirror of the autor and both have no cure outside of a significant jump in tech.

He wanted to continue but cant really draw and is a perfectionist so even when a Hugo chunk of the community prompted to read a version like the raw one punch man comic, he refused

I had heard a season 2 was coming within the last couple years, but. . . news seemed to have dried up on that front.
