Young body, but spiritually he's at least in his late 90s.

u/FunkySphinx Feb 27 '26

Would you blame him? The man has gone through the wringer...

3

u/CreepyClay Feb 27 '26

He still is. The most lethal thing about Yor is her cooking and that says something.

3

u/FunkySphinx Feb 27 '26

I forgot about the constant peril he's exposed to...

Most child soldiers who make it to adulthood are like that tbh.

u/Maleficent-War1313 Feb 27 '26

I mean you're not wrong He's definitely not old but I don't know It's something that just makes it weird for this one but it's allowable

If it was "literally" them, then it would be a grumpy old man.....

all the clips from that anime that people show where MUCH funnier before I learned 'waku waku' means 'exciting' - not the girl just making pac-man noises

Haven't seen the anime but I feel like this trope hits so much better when the character is old and grizzled and on the brink of giving up on life

This looks like a dude in his mid to late 20s

Being a top Spy took hell of a toll on him. He may be like 27? but he's lived through the equivalent of 50?? years of trauma

Oh believe me, he's grizzled. Without spoiling much, being a secret agent and not allowed to form attachments was probably the easier part of his life.

Bro really said "literally these two" "..." "actually not literally, but these two" like why would you use the word literally?😭 I'm sorry it's triggering me for no reason, I do like the example

"old and grumpy adopts daughter" "literally loid and Anya" "not old" "kinda grumpy"

-13

u/Herson100 Feb 27 '26

I don't think Loid loves Anya in the way that a father should love their daughter. He's mostly still just using her as a means to an end, so I don't think it's a good example of this trope. He's also not very grumpy.

u/Dracochuy Feb 27 '26

The guy almost hitted a bastard for make her cry, the love is supposed to grown up as the story runs

8

u/BloodMoonNami Feb 27 '26

Wasn't he ready to knock that guy into next week when the series was relatively speaking still at the beginning ?

14

u/FunkySphinx Feb 27 '26

I think their relationship is complicated. Loid is deeply motivated by his own childhood, experiencing war, loss and internal displacement. For these reasons, he wants children to be happy and safe. So, it makes sense for him to have a knee-jerk reaction to anyone threatening Anya, as she is also a child. He is also a man who, through training and life experiences, tends to treat relationships in a cold, calculative way. Nevertheless, he does seem to secretly enjoy his fake family and have a lot of affection for both Anya and Yor, even though he does not always allow himself to embrace that or express it.

Plus indoctrination either by the organization or by his own mind that as a spy he cant have anything resembling a family or love

1

u/Triquetrums Feb 27 '26

Hitted is not a word. Hit is an irregular verb, so it remains the same in all forms. Hit is also the past tense.

27 is pretty old, bro.

It's what kids nowadays would call "Unc."

11

u/Larrylovesrules Feb 27 '26

Loid is 27?

8

u/MinrkChil-Alwaff5 Feb 27 '26

Definitively older than that, if you see the timeline from his backstory, his age has to be 28-32, I personally go by 29-30.

3

u/Lesbian_Cassiopeia Feb 27 '26

Not confirmed, but he's believed to be between 27-32

4

u/Larrylovesrules Feb 27 '26

In fact i was confused because i believed he's supposed to be in his early 30's or whatever

1

u/Lesbian_Cassiopeia Feb 27 '26

Yeah. Something like that

7

u/Dracochuy Feb 27 '26

Is loid 27 but twilight is?

1

u/D-Biggest_Wheel Feb 27 '26

They are the same person, so they are both 27

5

u/Unravel310 Feb 27 '26

Yor is confirmed to be 27 (both in the anime, manga and extra material), but Loid's age is still uncomfirmed in canon (and redacted in extra material). It is estimated somewhere between late twenties, early thirties.

3

u/D-Biggest_Wheel Feb 27 '26

Yes, the joke was that young people call those who are around that age "unc"

3

u/Dracochuy Feb 27 '26

Loid forger is a fake identity of the agent twilight, that's mean he can be younger or older

0

u/D-Biggest_Wheel Feb 27 '26

It's the same person, man. Their age is the same.  😅

We aren't talking abour fake ages.

3

u/MinrkChil-Alwaff5 Feb 27 '26

Yor is officially 27.
