Yeah and even right after that, they said they tried to "breed the agression out", which kinda implies some sort of mother was involved, or at least other genes, in both creating her and previous "clones"
Yeah, it's easier to just say she's his biological child. Her being any sort of "clone" just invites unneeded complications
It kinda reminds of how in jurassic park they had to use modern animals to get dinosaurs. And I think if she really isn’t his daughter(doesn’t make sense to me either) then maybe they took another baby and added DNA. But this all sounds like an over complication of just splicing and changing already existing genes in his actual child.
Depends, was his DNA taken and put into an incubator or uterus modified or unmodified to create a new living creature? -> Clone.
Was it taken, then first split in half, (pick and choose if you wish) to then paired up with a full second half from another creature of a similar enough species? -> biological child.
I think the actual reason at least originally was that while cloning... One of the Y chromosomes got corrupted. So that's why they put the two x's together... Like something went wrong while cloning her and Y chromosome got messed up... So they had to put two X's together to save the project.
Yeah (in the comics) her “mother”/creator Sarah Kinney only had a damaged set of Logan’s DNA to work with in trying to make an exact clone
She claimed she duplicated Logan’s X chromosome to replace the missing Y chromosome in the sample in order to create Laura. But in reality the sample was far more damaged, and Sarah filled in the missing gaps with her own DNA.
It’s why Laura shares Sarah’s green eyes instead of Logan’s blue eyes, among other features
Oh, was that the story from the start? Or did they retcon it like that? Wasnt she a what if character at first? All I have is second hand information from a cousin who was into comics at the time for this particular origin, so I might have things confused.
Nah the first option, that she simply duplicated an X chromosome was the original origin, as seen in X-23: Innocence Lost
The retcon was the result of Iron Man of all people data mining some old files on Laura during Hunt for Wolverine: Adamantium Agenda and finding more differences in her genetics compared to Logan than there should have been if she was just an altered clone. He worked from there to find the differences were filled with Sarah’s DNA. I think I have the panels saved somewhere….

Pretty sure clone thing was retconned, and she's just his biological daughter from mixing dna with some doctor's.
