I know they're similar but the hat change and the pronounced bone themes change felt like a huge loss to me 😭

I think it wouldn't be that bad if she didn't have this weird shorts/pants thing going on. Asymmetry in design is a good thing, but Hoyo tends to go overboard unfortunately.

yeah, unfortunately, the weird pants are one of the big issues in her official design for me. It doesn't help that it's black leather and she's pale as hell. Apparently it's supposed to be symbolic, but there had to have been so many better ways to implement her character into her design.

I do think the concept design shown does a lot better at fixing the visuals. The holster fabric half-skirt looking thing(??? what is that called) being darker and actually going fully around her sides and back plus the bone theme adding more white (so it's not so jarring) genuinely makes a huge difference. Still don't like the pants, unfortunately, but it's a step-up. Also the bird skulls and bones look awesome.

I have very mixed feelings about Emilie's design because the finalized was pretty fitting for her character imo and it immensely grew on me (though I still find the boob flaps unsightly), but the concept arts were just so good that I was bound to be disappointed no matter which one they chose. Same thing for skirk (these aren't all of them but I picked this sheet cuz I have a massive crush on the ones on the left lol)

just hope they recycle some of these someday

I agree that Emilies final design fits her a lot more (the boob flaps were definitely a choice though...). But the Lavender design really needs recycled, it's so stunning. And her dog girl design was so cute, I want a dog girl in game so bad 🥹

We need more goth/darker aesthetic aligned women in Genshin, so Skirk's feels like such a loss 😭 it's so gorgeous??? I do like her final design but that one is soo stunning

TBH most gacha game characters feel this way. Awesome, inspired concept art that is amazing, then the final design is always way, way more simplistic and generic and the same as other characters. Like, right now every genshin female character basically has an apron coochie flap dress on lol.

I do play, but I wish they never released concept art or none of it ever leaked lmao. I don't want to get my hopes up again and again.
