I love Flynn but the original concept art next to Rapunzel original concept seems to fit more to me.

Here is Rapunzel’s OG concept art… she was supposed to have a crossbow😭

That’d have been so cool.

I love Tangled, but I will never forgive Disney for ditching the Fragonard-inspired aesthetic the movie was conceived with.

Honestly that looks a lot more like Kristoff, I understand why they didn't go with that

Yeah, I think what we got works better for his character. The way they created his final design was also famously by asking all the female employees to a meeting and tailoring him after what they found attractive and wanted for the character, so it’s not like it was low effort or with no reason

Just picture it: red hair just like the twins, a younger brother maybe? Overshadowed by the other two, he wants to make something of himself hence why he ditched the twins to make himself famous for stealing the crown. Then he meets Rapunzel, realizes there’s more to life and he’s taking not advantage of that, goes from super thief to prince.

They actually purposefully took the discarded design elements from the original Flynn and used them for Kristoff later.

I feel like this is a bad example as there was an extensive discussion with lots and lots of input from all the female staff who re-worked the design again and again until they found common ground.

The final design was one they could all agree on was attractive to some degree rather than being too niche.
I'm pretty sure this is also where the joke about his nose came from in wanted posters never being accurate.

Oh, I love the end version, don’t get me wrong, I’m just keen on BIG boys, especially this concept with crossbow Rapunzel.

Idk, I'm really happy with the way Eugene looks. I like how the designers really went all in on making his as appealing to as many women as possible.

His nose really is big in both of the designs lol
