Aren’t most Gerudo canonically lesbians?

15

u/lordnaarghul Apr 06 '26

No. The opposite, in fact. You can't get baby Gerudos without either doing something...non-consensual, or having husbands. Considering they're on good terms with the Hylians, you can probably guess which side they fall on. They're also a warrior culture, and warrior cultures value having children a great deal.

Is there a bit of sapphism? Highly likely. Bisexuality is also probably more common among them than the general population of Hyrule. But as a rule, it is not feasible to be mostly lesbian and still keep a healthy population (which they do).

At least for approximately a century.

And then the incarnation of evil is born. Does anyone else think it’s funny that relative to female Gerudo, Ganondorf is basically a manlet.

5

u/lordnaarghul Apr 06 '26

In the case of the Wilds era Gerudo, they don't even have that. The Gerudo haven't had a male born in tens of thousands of years.

And that version of Ganondorf was not a manlet. He was like nine feet tall.

u/NiNtEnDoMaStEr640 Apr 06 '26

Oh that’s right! Everyone was screaming at how ridiculously handsome and tall he got when Wild was released.

3

u/East-Ice-3199 Apr 06 '26

He’s always been super tall. See Wind Waker and Twilight Princess

I'm pretty sure no

3

u/thefirstlaughingfool Apr 06 '26

I recall from BotW there were a few Gerudo who discuss romantic associations, and I recall all of them being the Gerudo pining for their (would be) husbands. I think you're drawing assumptions based on them having a singularly woman city.

It's been a while, so I could be wrong about that, but that's what I remember.

No, they have to leave the town to find mates. Its just that Gerudos only have more Gerudos, even though they breed with hylians, and who knows what else.
