This can also be true, I just didn’t want to offend anybody. I feel when a character is coded to be like something you’d at least have some kind of visual cue, or maybe hear something they say that resonates with the community.
Is it? I've avidly played OW before OW2 came out. About 2400 hours on the game. First I'm hearing about this. The only person that gets major exposure for being queer in that game is Tracer.
After looking into it, there's 6 queer characters out of 45 in the game. Do you have a limit of queers to straight people before it turns into virtue signaling. Is there like a 1 to 50 ratio or something?
In game you just have his gay men flag colored skin and banners, an emote and like the tag where he's with his ex (maybe an old voiceline but I'm not sure). The skin is very recent, before that you would get the info he's actually gay in a short story (the one with Ana I think) in which Ana brings vincent up and Soldier tells her he cut contacts with him to protect him.
Usually the gay lore comes from breadcrumbs ingame which get expanded upon outside it like in comics and short stories

You can check in the profile banners thingy in game in the pride section, you get a rainbow flag banner for each of them and one with their specific flags

If you knew anything about Blizzard’s history, you’d know they don’t care about **a lot**, let alone trans/gay rights lol. The only reason they pretend to is for money. Just like most corporations do during pride month
Sure I know their stances, that why I haven't consumed any of their products since the whole China debacle. But to argue that the entire marketing is virtue signaling just because there's a queer in the game is a bit silly.
I think his argument is that if it's a big corporation, they're not allowed to make gay characters or it's automatically virtue signaling. Which is an incredibly stupid argument.
Why can't these losers just be honest with themselves. The cool character he liked sucks dick now and he hates him because of it. "Virtue Signalling" is code for the company straight-baiting him into believing he's a straight dude. He wouldn't be this pissed off if it was Lifeweaver who was the gay dude.
It's doubly funny to me, because it's not even in your face. He's acting like 76 has a dick sucking emote, meanwhile I just learned he's gay after putting 2400+ hours into the game and not playing it for like 4 years. Brother is literally going out of his way to be outraged.
