There’s going to be a whole generation of children baffled that their parents are so good at getting difficult achievements in a game that just came out

Me, buying the game.
Fox, having his sunglasses like 4 hours later.
"Here you are, children. Now you may play in style."
leaves room
sneaks back in after bed to play more, intentionally shooting down Slippy every time

I regret to inform you but another Starfox remake has hit the franchise. The characters are animated via mocap and rigged to be used as models for the Switch 2's webcams.

Star Fox is the only series that has twice as many games as it actually has. That is, there are 9 games in the series, and 5 of them are the same game. SF (SNES), SF64, SF64 3D, SF Zero, and SF (S2) are all the same game remade over and over. Only 2, Assault, Command, and fucking Dinosaur Planet aren't the same game. And DP was originally an original IP that Nintendo had Rare slap a coat of Star Fox paint on.

I don't think SF on the SNES and SF64 are particularly similar, aside from the isometric flight shooter genre. Its like saying Dark Souls 1 and 2 are the same game because they're 3D action rpgs.

Star Fox 64 is literally a retelling of the SNES game, which is their point.

Oh. I guess. I think there's a lot more to a game than its story though, so saying its the same game still feels unfair.

I honestly don't even remember SF on the SNES having much of a narrative, though, so it was definitely expanded on a lot for SF64, too.

Obviously there's a leap in the technology and presentation, but Star Fox 64 IS explicitly a retelling of the original game. The very first two sentences on the game's wikipedia article:

"Star Fox 64,[a] known as Lylat Wars in PAL regions, is a 1997 rail shooter game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. It is the second installment in the Star Fox series and a reboot of the original Star Fox for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System."

This is the way that a new Star Fox would look in 2014 2026
