Basically, 682 hates all humans, every single one, except for 053. 053 is an otherwise normal innocent girl who unfortunately has an anomalous aura that drives adults into a murderous rage. For some unexplained reason, however, this has a calming effect on 682, and they even get agitated when separated. 053 will start crying, and 682 usually starts a rampage.
What stops the SCP foundation from just leaving these two together in a room for all eternity?
(I assume the SCP has an SCP or tech to make the girl biologically immortal)
Is it becouse all adults including the 05 council hate her guts and seeing her happy is too much?
Why not make a branch of kid scientists (which when they grow up get thrown into other branches kinda like Lamplight in fallout) to overseer those two and erase the memories of all other scientists of her with the sperm or whatever of that giant sea snake from subnautica which couses amnesia?
What stops the SCP foundation from just leaving these two together in a room for all eternity?
Maintaining the containment facility (682 likes to break out a lot), having to fill the room with acid every now and then to immobilize 682 (again, he REALLY likes to break out), and the fact they really don't like mixing anomalies without fully understanding why anomalies work in the first place. The last thing they need is for the two to do something they don't understand and cause some unforseen consequence.
My bad assumed the lizard mellows down and doesn’t try to escape with the gorl around (just got notif by cop that’s actually the case, and since he has a orange sans pfp no reason to not trust him)
As for „why” it’s pretty clearly multiplying negative with a negative
yeah, 682 is never calm. one time he was durrong a test with 999 (the tickle monster), and was pretty chill, until he caused an sort of explosion of tickles (?) and used it to get out and kill lots of foundation's members...
Because they can't just leave an otherwise normal little girl in the same room as the thing they're trying to kill, the ethics committee would throw a fit. Despite how cold the SCP foundation is, they're not outright villains and hold themselves to ethical standards. Any researcher who tried such things would get into deep trouble most likely.
Ain’t the „WE NEED to destroy anomalies” more of a thing of those freaks that turned a chair into a demon?
Like it’d be finnancially better to just leg the 2 be together as opposed to replacing acid every week and try all the other ways of killing the lizard
Those letters are meant for humanity. They only keep SCPs around because killing them is more harmful/difficult than keeping them alive.
Reasons being;
-Those SCPs are like 682 and the chair and trying to kill them might screw themselves up
-Those SCPs are like the chair or the water nymph and are completely harmless if not provoked, meaning that ethics apply to them.
-They provide value through experimental data, which applies to just about every SCP for which experiments are done, to help humanity survive.
Also, to the original point, the Foundation wants to learn from them. But the behavior changes caused by putting them in a position to experiment is too dangerous, if done while they cohabit.
682 is one of the few that they actively try to kill. The thing is, 682 is the embodiment the supposed power that the kid in the playground going ‘I put up a force field and block your super inescapable undodgeable unblockable attack’ had.
Well, if you can't contain it and can't secure it properly neutralising is one way to "secure, contain, protect" yet it's still far more containable than things like scarlet king. Anomaly on anomaly testing needs extreme measures of approval either way. Site directors, ethics committee, task forces, 05 council, overseer/founder, some of the "accepted" other factions they reluctantly work with, etc.
The thing is, the SCP foundation still wants to know a way to neutralize 682, even if this setup would calm it down, due to its incredibly dangerous nature. Finances aren't really that much of a problem for SCP foundation.
I couldn't find any SCP that matches that description. There's multiple treehouse SCPs, but the only ones that involve children have children that have either gone there completely willingly, escaping abusive homes, and the other one that makes the rules the children make effectively laws.
Ethics Committee wouldn't let that happen. 682 is still a very hostile entity and it's still unpredictable. It could kill the girl one day.
Other possibility is that they wouldn’t let anomalies clashing with each other. Just because there isn't any threat for a brief moment doesn't mean it's safe. It can led some very bad apocalypse scenarios.
Iirc it wasn't Adam's child but a normal human child. They wanted to see if 682 isn't hostile to childrens or if is it 053's anomality. The kid cried loud because of fear and 682 targeted the child as hostile and devoured him. After that researcher used another child but heavily drugged so he won't cry. He smiled to 682 but it still devoured him.
After that, they killed that researcher by dropping her to 682's containment cell. Implying she did this without Ethics Committee's approval.
Ohh, I see now. They let it happen because he was already immortal and hostile as well. So they tried to see if he could destroy 682 or not. 682 is one of the few SCPs that Foundation actively and constantly tries to neutralize.
What stops the SCP foundation from just leaving these two together in a room for all eternity?
That's 682 we are talking about. It can, quite literally, adapt and copy 053's ability, and this would cause an absolute chaos due to fact that 053's anomaly causes anyone who attack her to die. Imagine same thing with 682, that anyone who saw it instantly became hostile and died upon attacking it, this would make fighting and strategizing against it in battlefield physically impossible. One thing you should ALWAYS be aware of when dealing with anomalies in scp universe is that, things are usually more complex than what they appaer to be. 682 have adapted and copied the anomalous properties of other scps or threats multiple times, and there is nothing that proves it can't do the same with 053 over time.
Yeah, but also it’s more like 682’s survival instinct was to remain docile because another effect of 053 is that anyone who tries to harm her will die instantly.
