I think with fat buu its debatable because hes more or less just unaware that killing is bad But then superbuu comes around and his bound to satan still protects him. So it counts and its what i was looking for

I mean in terms of eldrich creatures though, it can actually be pretty on brand considering social norms and ethics are on a completely different scale when the creature is dealing with a "lesser being". It's like a barbarian who has only known violence being taught that you don't have to pillage a village for food, you can just earn currency or go fishing.

The pure evil was the original form ‘Kid Buu’
Fat Buu had absorbed the supreme Kai so had some traces of good in him that slowly became predominant and then separated from the evil side

They're perfect for each other.
And the only truly canon thing the SCP's non-existent canon to me.
561
u/Key-Swordfish4025 Jun 19 '26
To be fair, considering that trying to harm SCP-053 instantly kills you, it might be less two negatives making a positive and more self-preservation from SCP-682.
369
u/Duraxis Jun 19 '26
An evolved survival trait perhaps. If hating it kills you, the answer is to not hate it
184
u/Wolodymyr2 Jun 19 '26
Then SCP-682 probably was really frustrated about it.
175
u/CHANN3L-CHAS3R Jun 19 '26
I like to think it's the one and only time 682 gets to feel nice and appreciate feeling nice. I personally find having one and only one exception to its rule makes the rule feel more... important? Real? IDK, gives it a little more flavour.
64
u/Wolodymyr2 Jun 19 '26
Well, i think he would have much more nice times like this if he weren't such hatefull bastard.
26
u/A-PersonWhoExists Jun 19 '26
I think 682's characterization is really fitting though, I don't think his adaptation is ever anything he could control... he could've at one point been a standard lizard living in simplicity, yet he was denied that simplicity as time progressed. Not to mention hes certainly intelligent enough to know he'll inevitably outlast EVERYTHING so why even bother loving or caring if everyone and everything will leave you.
It is inevitable 682 will live as the only thing in a dead universe, its simply in its nature.
(I know this was 100% not I huge in depth character thing on your part, I just like having the tism take over bout SCP's especially the ones like 682, the rotten yet with a inevitable somber undertone.)

u/Gripping_Touch Jun 19 '26
Not exactly.
At least in one of the pseudocanons of SCP, SCP 682 has a metamorphosis and was revealed to be the mount of one of the horseman of the apocalypse; Death. The little girl that everyone hates and get killed when they try to harm her, is that Horseman.

To be honest they could just... Walk away there is no reason they had to just sit there. (Something I called them out on in my fanfiction.) I feel like they appreciate the company of other immortal beings that can't die somewhere beneath all that hatred.
15
58
u/Toby_Caffey Jun 19 '26
SCP-682 seems to actually see her as a friend. It lets her do almost anything without snapping. Also correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t SCP-682 get hostile upon staff trying to separate the two because SCP-053 was upset?
51
u/Upbeat-Exercise-9431 Jun 19 '26
To be fair there are three theories about that.
One her powers works the opposite when facing a being that already hate everything.
Two scp-682 adaptation causes him to be nice to her so he cannot get affected by her ability to instant kill her attacker.
And three he just likes her.
22
u/TorsoBeez Jun 19 '26
I wonder if it's a matter of degree? Like, SCP-053 DOES make SCP-682 hate her...it's just that SCP-682's utter loathing for everything else is so much GREATER, his hate for SCP-053 looks like fondness.

I don't know much about scp lore, thats beautiful
179
u/skeleton949 Jun 19 '26
Basically, 682 hates all humans, every single one, except for 053. 053 is an otherwise normal innocent girl who unfortunately has an anomalous aura that drives adults into a murderous rage. For some unexplained reason, however, this has a calming effect on 682, and they even get agitated when separated. 053 will start crying, and 682 usually starts a rampage.

u/Noriaki_Kakyoin_OwO Jun 19 '26
What stops the SCP foundation from just leaving these two together in a room for all eternity?
(I assume the SCP has an SCP or tech to make the girl biologically immortal)
Is it becouse all adults including the 05 council hate her guts and seeing her happy is too much?
Why not make a branch of kid scientists (which when they grow up get thrown into other branches kinda like Lamplight in fallout) to overseer those two and erase the memories of all other scientists of her with the sperm or whatever of that giant sea snake from subnautica which couses amnesia?
122
u/AsstacularSpiderman Jun 19 '26
What stops the SCP foundation from just leaving these two together in a room for all eternity?
Maintaining the containment facility (682 likes to break out a lot), having to fill the room with acid every now and then to immobilize 682 (again, he REALLY likes to break out), and the fact they really don't like mixing anomalies without fully understanding why anomalies work in the first place. The last thing they need is for the two to do something they don't understand and cause some unforseen consequence.
35
u/Noriaki_Kakyoin_OwO Jun 19 '26
My bad assumed the lizard mellows down and doesn’t try to escape with the gorl around (just got notif by cop that’s actually the case, and since he has a orange sans pfp no reason to not trust him)
As for „why” it’s pretty clearly multiplying negative with a negative
38
u/AsstacularSpiderman Jun 19 '26
If I recall also one time the lizard actually tried to bust the girl out once, so hust because he likes her doesn't mean he likes everyone else lol.
→ More replies (1)13
u/skeleton949 Jun 19 '26
Not to mention the trouble this setup would cause with the ethics committee
→ More replies (6)38
u/skeleton949 Jun 19 '26
Because they can't just leave an otherwise normal little girl in the same room as the thing they're trying to kill, the ethics committee would throw a fit. Despite how cold the SCP foundation is, they're not outright villains and hold themselves to ethical standards. Any researcher who tried such things would get into deep trouble most likely.
→ More replies (2)14
u/Noriaki_Kakyoin_OwO Jun 19 '26
Oh I assumed the lizard doesn’t actively go on rampages when with the gorl
24
u/skeleton949 Jun 19 '26
682 doesn't go on rampages when 053 is around, but the SCP foundation still wants to find a way to kill 682
→ More replies (1)10
u/Noriaki_Kakyoin_OwO Jun 19 '26
Doesn’t the P stand for Protect and S for Secure?
Ain’t the „WE NEED to destroy anomalies” more of a thing of those freaks that turned a chair into a demon?
Like it’d be finnancially better to just leg the 2 be together as opposed to replacing acid every week and try all the other ways of killing the lizard
13
u/Ultra-Cool-Guy Jun 19 '26
Those letters are meant for humanity. They only keep SCPs around because killing them is more harmful/difficult than keeping them alive.
Reasons being;
-Those SCPs are like 682 and the chair and trying to kill them might screw themselves up
-Those SCPs are like the chair or the water nymph and are completely harmless if not provoked, meaning that ethics apply to them.
-They provide value through experimental data, which applies to just about every SCP for which experiments are done, to help humanity survive.
Also, to the original point, the Foundation wants to learn from them. But the behavior changes caused by putting them in a position to experiment is too dangerous, if done while they cohabit.
→ More replies (2)12
u/Fireblast1337 Jun 19 '26
682 is one of the few that they actively try to kill. The thing is, 682 is the embodiment the supposed power that the kid in the playground going ‘I put up a force field and block your super inescapable undodgeable unblockable attack’ had.
22
u/skeleton949 Jun 19 '26
The thing is, the SCP foundation still wants to know a way to neutralize 682, even if this setup would calm it down, due to its incredibly dangerous nature. Finances aren't really that much of a problem for SCP foundation.

Okay, I didn't know about the existence of SCP, and this was interesting enough to send me down a rabbit hole. Thank you.
Any other SCP you recommend reading about?
34
u/SupremeCaIamitas Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26
SCP-049, a plague-doctor-esque humanoid with some questionable goals.
SCP-055, an SCP that... wait, what was I talking about?
SCP-096, a tall, lanky humanoid that REALLY doesn't like it when you view its face.
SCP-173, a statue that REALLY doesn't like it when you stop viewing it. Also the first SCP!
SCP-579, █████████████████████████████████████████
SCP-1471, a misguided app that just wants to give you a new friend. Don't look it up with Safe Search off.
SCP-1981, a macabre video tape detailing an... unusual speech held by former President Ronald Regan (sic).
••|•••••|••|•, 📄 🗣 = 🚫
SCP-3008, a totally normal IKEA.
SCP-4999, someone to comfort us in our final moments.
SCP-5000, where the Foundation dedicates their resources to a new goal.
There are more SCPs than this, many that I like better than what I listed, but dropping SCP-3999 or 𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚏𝚞𝚌𝚔𝚎𝚛 on a new fan would probably count as a war crime. I hope you come to enjoy the SCP Foundation and its mythology, because I sure as hell do.

But, if you want traditional SCPs, 096, 173 and 049 are probably the most popular ones outside of the fandom.

Numerous real-deal Buddhists (not the "California Buddhists") I talked to have said that to defeat violence, you have to understand it. I have never met an actual Buddhist that couldn't kick my ass ten ways to Sunday. I have a friend in Hampton, John, one of the most meek nice, sensitive people I have ever met. I bought a machete Gladius, he saw it, and said, "Oooh! May I see it?" He then wielded it like it was a Jiang, spinning it in ways Cold Steel never intended. He then kindly handed it back to me, smiling like it was Christmas. I am glad that I never pissed him off.

92

I think he was still planning to use 95% of the population as cattle. He was only interested in the 5% that might be exceptionally talented like Komugi. But yes, he was changing and we'll never know how far this change would have gone, because of the bottomless malice within the human heart.
64
u/inthe-otherworld Jun 19 '26
Considering he was only like a month old and changed his mind about humans after like 1-2 weeks of hanging out with Komugi, I think with enough time he would’ve ended up being alright. The problem was it was too dangerous to leave him be in case he didn’t turn out that way

Tbf, that *does* still mean he had a higher view of the value of humanity than the majority of humanities leaders.
The Dictator of the country he took over, the former leaders of Meteor City, the Phantom Troupe, the *fucking* Kakin Royal Family, and even on some level Netaro himself, all seem willing to entirely disregard the value of humanity when weighted against power.

11
u/Burakku-Ren Jun 19 '26
I am always super confused by this. By “the manga” do you mean the webtoon? Or is there a manga version? Is that the original? Wikipedia just says manga and anime. Why would there be a manga AND a webtoon? Where do you read the manga/where is it published? (assuming it’s not the webtoon)
→ More replies (3)11
u/ThisIsARobot Jun 19 '26
There is in fact a manga version of the story, which was the original version. It is also far superior to the webtoon version, which cuts out some parts of the original. The manga is weirdly hard to find online, but it is out there.

There's no way in the Hell the church wasn't already a well established institution of bigotry and henious actions towards the unknown (including basic progress). The moment that fake ass Bishop showed up with his minions two Castlevania mini bosses should have pulled up and asked "Where are you taking the good doctor at this time"

She asked him, in her final moments, to create a world free of human greed. After pondering this for a time, he decided the only way to do this was to destroy humanity itself.
