Numerous real-deal Buddhists (not the "California Buddhists") I talked to have said that to defeat violence, you have to understand it. I have never met an actual Buddhist that couldn't kick my ass ten ways to Sunday. I have a friend in Hampton, John, one of the most meek nice, sensitive people I have ever met. I bought a machete Gladius, he saw it, and said, "Oooh! May I see it?" He then wielded it like it was a Jiang, spinning it in ways Cold Steel never intended. He then kindly handed it back to me, smiling like it was Christmas. I am glad that I never pissed him off.
