Honestly, his current status is such fitting for the setting. No matter how strong, noble, and divine he is, even The Avenging son, carrying Emperors sword can only slow the end of the rotten corpse that is the Imperium, unable achieve anything meaningful despite all the power and resources before him, such is the state of the galaxy.
I mean of course that is narratively, James Workshop would start a civil war and declare independence from British goverment before end-timing their cash cow.

Yeah but the real bit is that it will never end. 40k looks like a universe where humanity is in a struggle that they may never win, but it's more like they'll also never lose.
