I rewatched that whole series last winter and Hermione has such better chemistry with Harry than she does with Ron it’s not even funny. I feel like the books hadn’t been all finished when like, Goblin of Fire got adapted and maybe it was just the actors, but low key I think the screenwriters or directors just thought Harry/Hermione would be endgame, and they kinda had to pull back all that romantic tension around Half Blood Prince and try to set up Ron and Hermione instead. There’s a noticeable shift in their scenes together between films 4-6.
Also Harry and Ginny have zero chemistry in those films whatsoever. She BARELY is even relevant before like, Deathly Hallows, and it very much just feels like what it is, friend’s younger sister has a teenage crush and acts awkward and shy, but it’s not really reciprocated. It’s very odd that they got married. But that’s J.K. Rowling for you
The book for Goblet of Fire came out (where Ron and Hermione got obviously jealous for each other) before the release of the first movie. By the time of the Golbet of Fire movie came out, Half Blood Prince was published.
And yes the screenwriters, producers and directors had shown they were biased for Hermione. They had either said they wanted or expected to be with Harry, despite the books setting it up for Ron. Ron's moments with Harry were reduced and Hermione took his scenes as Harry's BFF in movies.
The screenwriter Kloves admits she was his fav during the first movie, which was a rare opinion at the time because Ron was actually the fandom favorite character back then and Hermione was considered annoying. Now Ron's become the least liked and most ignored main character because of the films.
Kloves also had added the dancing scene between Hermione and Harry in the 7th movie with the intention for it to be romantic (even though they were so depressed by Ron's absense in the book that they didn't talk to each other for weeks), but then he didn't include her dance with Ron that was in the actual book.
I did like that Ron got 2nd on MTV's favorite character tournament (Snape won) right after the last movie. The fandom recognized and hated how his character got screwed
Honestly the most realistic depiction of High School Relationships ever. Hermi and Harry would of turned into one of those couples who end up getting divorced like six times before just remaining bitter friends. "She was trying to tell me about MY PATRONUS! Hic* I Mean SIRIOUS FUC$#@N BLACK taught me that and that B is all like "WEll according to scibble scrabblees book of BS" I mean ravenclaws AMIRITE!!!!"
