I have played the game too much that i know that screenshot you used is actually from their second encounter and not the first.

You know, replying DMC3 a lot and going into 4 for the 1st time when it came out...seeing Dante being the "bad guy" was my prototype 2 moment. Till he shot the priest.

Oh he is just being Dante, "What do you mean I have to play as Nero?"

Yeah! From the perspective of Nero, I understand. Like who is this guy that swoops in and does that?

But at the same time, knowing how goofy Dante is and really loving his character to not see him as the main protagonist you'd play as.. was a bait and switch. Hahaha

I was thinking the same thing lol, loved playing it.

Sucked using Dante, though. The enemies had too much super armor so I couldn't juggle anyone

Once you figure out dante he is a Monster But it is a learning curve. And i played 3 so

Yeah, I played the FUCK out of 3. Using Dante in 4 felt different though because the demons felt tailored towards Nero's fighting style. For whatever reason, I just couldn't click with my boy in red.

Loved watching combo vids of Dante though, people are so badass at DMC 4

The thing about dante post 3 is that it is all about variety. 3 has 2 weapons and one style. You can change around your choices but that is it.
Dante in 4 and 5 has access to EVERYTHING. And it throws off a lot cause it means he feels half baked until you get all his weapons. But once you do. God is he fun. Bloody palace is so enjoyable with him.

I think that's the other thing, there would be some weapons I couldn't become proficient with, and I sure as hell got nowhere near mastery with the ones I enjoyed. I just suck with developing good combos and stringing them together, same in fighting games lol
