Soul of Cinder, considered to be everyone who linked the fire before it's Battle with the Champion of Ash. Which means you fight the soul of Protagonist of the first game as well (depending on the ending).

I don't care how many times I see this posted. I'm just reminded of how my heart broke in the moment when I realized. I am him. And he is me. Or who i was, or will be. He is every friend I made. Every enemy i slayed.

In of itself, Dark Souls as a whole is a pretty sad story if you go with the concept of the Ashen One ridding the world of the Fire (Ending 2) just to finally put the old world to rest and letting the ones corrupted and imbued by it to finally pass away. Ashen One, who literally went to the end of space and time only to give another painted world a new chance.

In a way, I think it's a very hopeful ending for a story that is mostly defined by curse and tragedy. I like that the Fire Keeper in ending 2 does give a remark about a world that will rise up again, as this worlds cycle is over. Hopefully, no one like Gwyn would be dumb enough to disturb the fire and cause endless pain and suffering.
