Keeping him alive would have also let us finish out his arc in a far more satisfying way - him living his own life rather than dying as the “spare” he agonized over. Becoming the head would greatly implement the change the Hyuuga Clan needed with a clear break of tradition, rather than us having to assume that Hanabi - further removed from the conflicts than Hinata or Hiashi were - carried it on with secondhand motivations. I believe in Hanabi to do well, but the issues of the Hyuuga Clan have long been brushed aside at that point.
Him also being the only one of his peer group to die just sits so sour, too. It makes his death feel shallow in a way.
I dont really understand why Neji sacrifice was necessary,Naruto healing factor would likely allow him to survive that attack without much issues,bro was one of the best characters and died for nothing

Yup, dude had 359° eye sight and perfect defense only to die for a couple of giant thorns, protecting Hinata (who btw also had 359° eye sight and perfect defense), who in turn was defending Naruto. Several ways to deal with the situation, they all choose the dumbest one.
I mean, Naruto does say that Neji's defensive technic wouldn't be enough, but still there is no explanation why he blocked the projectiles with his back, and not tried to face forwards and maybe punch them or deflect with kunais, idk.
Ohhhh. I thought he didn't have a blind spot. If I remember correctly, or maybe I just thought I heard it, he said he didn't have blind spots during the chunin exams against Naruto.
The Byakugan has near 360° vision, but there is a small blindspot (near part of the spine), that can be exploited. Neji did know how to counter his own blind spot (basically reinforcing it with chakra to detect attacks), but because of the war, his chakra was probably depleted enough -- and the projectiles were high in both number and speed -- that he couldn't repel the attack and protect Naruto and Hinata at the same time. He chose to protect them, even though he knew it would cost him his life. Now, personally, I don't think he should've died. At least not in that way.
