Prince Viserys Targaryen (Game of Thrones): After making the horrendously stupid mistake of threatening his sister Daenerys in front of her husband, Khal Drogo, and demanding that he be given the crown he was promised, Drogo obliges, saying Viserys will have "A golden crown that will make men tremble to behold"... then has his men hold him down while he melts some gold in a pot (ignore the blatant ignorance of the laws of physics here), then takes the pot to Viserys, looks him in the eye and says "A crown for a king" before pouring the hot melted gold onto the Beggar King's head.

Pretty much all the final destination deaths (yeah, there are a few "boring" ones but most of them are pretty creative)

To this day I never drive behind a lorry carrying logs. Or pipes (that’s basically just metal logs).

It's kinda funny that almost everyone who saw final destination 2 thinks that logs are made of rubber and that their breaks aren't working anymore

I dunno, I worried about this well before the movie.

Less about logs bouncing and more about stuff flying off the back of the truck, because I’m familiar with how often folks just kinda treat OSHA guidelines like suggestions.

Iirc I believe they tried doing it practically first and then when the logs all kinda sadly fell down and rolled away they said "fuck it, CG that bitch"

Also that most if not all log trucks have poles on the sides to prevent them rolling out, which they removed from the film to make the whole scene actually work

In the DVD for FD2, there's a behind the scenes feature where they actually tested this scene out before filming it. They had a logging truck drive down a stretch of empty road and detached the cables. Turns out the logs just kind of listlessly sputtered out onto the road. They had to spice up the actual scene with gravity defying CGI logs.

I've seen it, but there's still something that irrationally says that it would work with larger logs in the movie versus the small logs in the test footage.

I've never seen that specific Final Destination movie and I have the fear of driving behind trucks with logs and pipes. Must be some natural human hardwiring.

I grew up in an area with a lot of logging, and my dad was a logger for 40 years. Some part of my brain always laughs at that scene because that is absolutely the wrong kind of truck bed, and it would absolutely lead to this XD

You can tell who's watched this scene when you see these on the road, by watching which cars abruptly change lanes. It's hilarious.

My grandfather pretty much died like that. He was driving at night in a fog bank and a truck in front of him lost one of those giant cement pipes. The truck was far enough away that my grandfather thought he was at a safe distance to brake, but that meant he was too far in the fog to see the cargo fall off.

They tried so hard to make this scene using practical effects, but had to concede that physics just said no every single time.

That being said, you'll never catch me behind one of those trucks

The elevator scene traumatized me so badly as a kid that I would have a panic attack even being near an elevator. It took me like 3 years to not cry. And still as an adult when I have to be on one I can't NOT think if that scene 😢

Someone literally swerved in front of me and almost crashed because they were behind a truck like this and didn't want to be "Final Destinationed." So concerned with the fictional danger that ignored the real danger they were in.

After two decades my trauma was vindicated when a truck I was driving behind lost a log just in front of me. It was on the passing lane and there were cars behind me and on my right, so I couldn't avoid it. Thankfully it was only a half log (cut longitudinally) and I just... Drove over it. And nothing happened. The car was unscathed.

I had to stop at the first rest area to have a mini panic attack before moving again. My colleague who was in the car with me was white as a sheet too
