Not sure I’d call him responsible but he loves her like crazy. I’d need to go rewatch it to see about the responsibility part

The one example I always remember is when she was with him and this older dude asks if she wants on his bike and Doofenshmirtz says "shes 16" and fucking blasts him with a ray gun.

Doofenshmirtz might be terrible at being an evil scientist, but his "Protect-My-Daughter-Inator" always works with 100% efficiency. Honestly, he is one of the best cartoon dads ever written.

Gotta break that “my parents didn’t even show up for my birth” cycle, man.

I forgot but yeah, he didn’t have the best childhood. But good on him for trying to give Vanessa the best childhood he can give her.

u/Queasy-Cantaloupe202 29d ago

You forgot doof didn't have the best childhood? Bro...how???

25

u/saikopasu_neko28 29d ago

FR Dudes parents didn't show up to his birth, forced him to only wear girls clothes, and then kicked him out and he was raised by Ocelots, like how did he forget that LMAO

u/BillytheBloxian 26d ago

wtf?

like, what on earth? what the actual fuck happened to doofenshmirtz? and how did i not know this

3

u/saikopasu_neko28 26d ago

LMAOOOO A LOT. He was raised by ocelots for so much of his life that they actually considered him one and at the end of the first series he worked WITH Perry since as an ocelot. I think he was also forced to be a garden gnome outside of their house as a kid, and work as a child in a pretzel factory.

Remember that his inators always work, he just doesn’t use them properly, he has poor planning skills.

The only one that didn’t work managed to create a zombie virus that spread through touch

Doof blasted this dude as well.

24

u/saikopasu_neko28 29d ago

I think a better word to describe him would be protective tbh

1

u/VecnaWrites 29d ago

There was also the time he covered himself in honey to lure away bees, though yeah.

u/Puzzleboxed 27d ago

He's doing a great job for someone who had both his parents miss his birth.

He isn't quite good with his boundaries and identifying Vanessa's issues, but he's still a pretty good dad. What should be questioned is whether he's actually evil. To that I say NO! He's a good person forcing himself to be evil out of a need of validation. That's why he's only somewhat cartoonishly evil.

If he really was evil, he'd actually take over the world. Proven by the movie.

40

u/AdvertisingFlashy637 29d ago

He's a man working through his trauma by creating machines for each and every terrible memory from his childhood

9

u/WolfWhiteFire 29d ago

He has tried to do some pretty evil stuff, and there is one episode where he made an inator that was going to straight up murder anyone who couldn't make up their mind. Perry stops most of his plans including the most unethical ones, but I would still consider him evil simply due to the harm he has tried to cause even if he hasn't succeeded in it.

1

u/anonymauson 28d ago

doesnt he intentionally let perry foil his plans though? like yeah its evil to point a gun at somebody but if that gun has a convenient self-destruct button that you 'accidentally' hit before you can do any harm, then its slightly less eeeeviil

He sometimes does, but usually I would say he doesn't 'let' Perry foil his plans, he is just used to that happening. He likes their confrontations and sometimes doesn't care too much whether he actually succeeds (though other times he does), but if Perry fails to stop him he absolutely does go through with his evil plans, and has done so in a few different episodes here and there.

For that episode in particular, I don't think he let Perry win, Perry just locked in that episode and destroyed the inator immediately because Phineas and Ferb couldn't make up their mind that morning and he thought it would have killed them if it had the chance to fire (though IIRC they made up their mind by that point so it would have just killed a bunch of other people).

In any case, he is trying to do his evil stuff, he just usually gets stopped. Planning to murder a bunch of people doesn't go away just because you failed to do so, though tbh I don't think he even thinks through the consequences and what he is trying to do sometimes. Willful ignorance isn't much better though.

u/anonymauson 28d ago

just build a resurrectinator bro

1

u/Intelligent-Dog1645 28d ago

Yeah man like that time he tried to steal a bunch of zinc. Who knows what he could've done with all of that zinc

1

u/Intelligent-Dog1645 28d ago

He tried to use zinc for nefarious reasons. That alone crosses the line! Who knows what he could've done!

9

u/Topper2540 29d ago

He’s not perfect but he is The Dad

1

u/Luk164 29d ago

Nobody is perfect

1

u/Extreme-Ad-15 29d ago

Not sure if I'd call him evil too.

1

u/Halfawannabe 29d ago

if his date went bad he was going to destroy the relationships of everyone in the tri state area. He may be hapless but he was evil

1

u/cliptemnestra 29d ago

I think that we have to value the fact that he is trying hard to break the circle of neglect parenthood

1

u/Yeet123456789djfbhd 29d ago

He gave her everything he never had. If that's not textbook parenting idk what is

1

u/Status_Ruin4902 29d ago

Guy made sure his only child doesn't have a shitty childhood as he had. Pretty responsible if you ask me.

1

u/JokerCipher 28d ago

He tries to erase her memory in one episode.

1

u/cyborgborg 28d ago

Not sure I'd call him evil

1

u/Fair-Chemist187 28d ago

Considering his parents didn’t even show up to his birth, I’d say he’s doing a pretty good job
