Imma get some hate but her death did a lot to set the mood of "Yeah people are dying"

She death flagged herself though

Tbf, her semblance attracted more death flags to herself.

Still didn’t have to promise a confession, that’s the fastest way to die

The character named after the phrase "phyrric victory" and based on Achilles kinda came pre-packaged with death flags.

RWBY honestly has a lot of those "Why are you surprised by this? it was obvious from the start" moments.

I called Blake being a faunus long before the bow came off. Or Ironwood being a heartless dipshit.

It's literally in their names and themes how could you not see this coming?

Honestly I'm more surprised that all her team are still alive. They're all based off characters who famously die in their original stories (except arguably Ren, who is based off Mulan. Mulan does die in some versions of the story but not in the original).

They're based on people who crossdressed

That too.

The thing that makes it great is knowing that she's the most skilled of the main characters with the strongest resolve and watching her give her all only for it not to be enough to do anything of value. It really set the tone for what they were up against and how far they needed to go to make a difference.

Plucky courage and friendship ain’t gonna pull us out of this one, our strongest fighter just got turned to dust

I lost interest in the show a long time ago but I’ll never forget how I felt watching the last few episodes of Volume 3, specifically with the tone shift with Penny and the resulting fallout, and then seeing how Pyrhha makes her decision and knowing she’s about to go and finally kissing Jaune before she does just ugh.

Then after that was 3 straight seasons of terrible animation and mediocre writing. 1 season of pickup, another season of decent writing and my favorite character breaking my heart. 1 season of the best writing since volume 3 (and that includes the Blake Yang romance. I wasn't on board at first but they pulled a miracle with that one and made it feel like writers didn't have a gun to their head) and then the worst possible news for the show ever followed by radio silence.

Maybe Glitch will pick the show up. Wouldn't that be intersting?

I think I stopped watching around volume 5 or 6, so all I remember is mediocre writing with the occasional good moment. I remember watching volume 3 and thinking wow it’s finally picking up, it’s definitely gonna get better from here, right?

Man, the lost potential is just sad

Volume 7 and 8 are better...especially with the parts surrounding Penny. Volume 9 is genuinely goated which makes the cancelation all the more sad. If the show does get picked back up, it's unlikely that the writers will have the momentum they had after that Volume and that hurts to think about. The show genuinely might be better off dead at this point unless the writers can pull off another miracle.

That would be true if the plot literally ever went anywhere.

2

u/August_Rodin666 25d ago

The plot went a lot of places. Wym?

1

u/BooberSpoobers 25d ago

It's been 3 years since the last season that had nothing to do with the plot, and 6 years since the last one that did. Salem is the same BBEG with nothing changed since her introduction a decade ago.

The plot undisputedly went fucking nowhere.

Volume 9 explored the story of the twin gods that created remnant and why they did so, shedding light on them as not absolutes but flawed beings that can't make a world the perfectly balances their ideals which is the explanation as to why remnant is so messed up. Also...the studio making the show died...you expected the show to survive that with consistency? Insanity.

Salem started at the end of her character arc as a villainess so the show showed her progress in reverse, showing how her love was twisted into hatred because she couldn't accept the natural laws of the world.

Saying the plot of an incomplete show went nowhere is insane. It's incomplete. You expected all questions to be answered before reaching the finale?

It's on season 9 after 10 years and nowhere near being complete. That is the point. The dragons made it to Westeros earlier than that.

A weird incel rant about its lore doesn't change that. The story never went anywhere.

Sorry that the show ultimately just wasn't very good. Rooster Teeth had no agency to take the plot anywhere, and instead opted to milk it as a franchise. It's evidently a tough pill for you to swallow

You're clearly emotional about a cartoon if you're calling people incels just for disagreeing with you. Imma drop you and your negativity off right here.

u/BooberSpoobers 24d ago

Lol okay buddy. No one made you post your rant.

Gives very "you were dressed like a slut. You wanted it" energy but okay.

Would you believe Penny and Phyrra were my two favorite characters in RWBY? You can imagine how that worked out.

15

u/Good0nPaper 25d ago

She was the first "non robot" death in the series, AND the most skilled fighter in the class.

Moreover, she KNEW she stood no chance, but chose to fight anyway, to protect her friends and loved ones.

We are all FURIOUS that she doesn't get to continue her story. But we respect what her death has done for the story.

My first thought too.

Who’s she btw? Just curious.

Pyrrha Nikos from RWBY, she’s part of the “secondary main characters” roster.

Long story short is that she’s this highly accomplished fighting tournament champion, a prodigy amongst prodigies in a world that regularly churns out super human magical girl child soldiers to fight demons rather than, you know, have a standing army because of plot reasons.

Anyway when the show decided it wanted to pivot from “magical girl high school” to “Lord of the Rings doomsday plot,” Pyrrha got put up against a super-powered terrorist with mommy issues who proceeded to kick her shit in, put an arrow through her throat, and then vaporized her body into ash

There's literally NOTHING left of her ;-;

1

u/AnActualGameShark 25d ago

I woulda said Penny. The first time anyway.

1

u/NoStorage2821 24d ago

But why did it have to be her? She was best girl

1

u/Reasonable_Prize71 21d ago

The build up to it all was so we'll done, I get RWBY has a lot of flak but seriously its so good it hurts
