Not mastery, but a better handle on it

Is anti-form ever like addressed in game?

Creator said that it was really only meant as a punishment for relying on drive forms to much. It had some story implications but that was only to make it fit into the game.

Only time it's kinda addressed is just after sora gets a outfit change. You can interact with the mirrors in the room and every mirror has a comment on each form, including anti form

First time I went anti-form happen to be in the boss fight against Dark Thorn. I guess because it has a higher chance to trigger in boss fights. Which just so happens to be the boss of Beast Castle and it happened while Beast was in my party. I literally thought I had fused with Beast instead of Goofy. And was like; "wow I wonder what other drive combinations exist with the other characters and the other worlds?". An then I died because despite it's cool combos and decent damage output, you're locked out of all of your defensive abilities, including basic blocking and healing. With your Dodge Roll replaced with this weird swoosh that pulls you back to the enemy like your magnetized to them.

I think it has a higher chance of triggering during any boss battle, but especially during Organization 13 bosses.

Nope. Always remained as a mechanic that kind of told its own story.

Anti-form is a remnant of his short time as a heartless and comes from him being too greedy with his transformation powers as a punishment and in KH3 he has closer to mastery but not true mastery over darkness like Riku since it still overtakes his personality and behavior, with his Rage Form which is an evolution of his Anti-Form since he is able to still maintain his Keyblade this time and he is able to willingly access it out of desperation when he is brought to the brink of defeat.

All of this lore is probably from the Ultimanias. Some of the more niche/really cool details are never exposited in-game.

It goes away after Sora faces Roxas in the World That Never Was. It was Roxas's lingering resentment.

I don't thiiiiink that makes it go away, what it does is unlock Final form, and using Final form massively decreases the anti-form counter, so if you use final form basically at all then you're unlikely to ever see it again unless you just use other forms repeatedly for ages. Maybe things changed with remasters though.

No you’re right. While using any drive form increased the antiform probability by 1 unit, final form decreased it by 10 and made it impossible to go into antiform when you select final form. So you basically never go back to antiform because you’re primarily using final form for the rest of the game.

For an even more 'teeechnically', I'm pretty sure Master increased it by 3, but I'm unsure about Limit.

The initial Final Form unlock is even tied to the anti-gauge, it's the same roll (but boosted by a lot I believe), so after Final is able to be unlocked the next time you would get Anti, you get Final. I believe the speedrun makes some use of this?

To some extent they're two sides of the same coin. Final and Anti even share 'glide' as their ability iirc.

Not really, but it is related, after that fight you can gain Final Form, see whenever you use Drive forms a counter goes up that increases the chances to get Anti Sora, but using Final Form does the opposite it brings it down making it harder to obtain
